Why is it only now that I have learned of this underwear company, ES Collection, and their hot videos! These two videos below are my favorites so far. It is a happy coincidence that their name, ES, is used these days to mean 'extra services' to mean a 'happy ending' in the spa going circles because these videos surely made me happy!

I never imagined that there would be a time when I would write sexy naked priests in one sentence. Obviously my imagination was limited. The Orthodox Calendar for 2014 will feature 'priests' (although watching the video it was apparent that they are models dressing up as priests) that will make temperatures rise and incite impure thoughts. I think they just made me a believer.

My friends and I trooped over to the World Trade Center for our annual pilgrimage, the Cosmo Bachelor's Bash 2013. This year entitled Cosmo U, the event made me take a trip down to memory lane to my own college days and the remembered images of lockers rooms and varsity players made me very excited! The venue was twice the size of the previous Bachelor's Bash. The staging was exceptional!

So did Cosmo U outdo its predecessors? Watch and decide for yourself.

The police are still at it. While there are obvious misleading and mistakes in the reporting, I believe this report is still a small victory in the sense that they actually got the side of the owner and even mentioned that they have all the permits to run this business.

It was obvious in this report (at least to me), that the police were put to some shame hence the thinly veiled threat at the end of their statement. A small victory for us. Also the police can't claim ignorance the next time they do this.

The Internet Effect.

The internet is the great equalizer. Rich or poor, people have ready access to the internet. The internet has caused a lot of business models to evolve. To either change or die. Print, media and the music industry have felt its impact for almost a decade. It is no different for massage parlors. In the past two years there have been several internet pages that have surfaced to provide a list of male masseurs. Those that are willing to be hired for sex. Hiring people over the net has become easy. Freelance sex workers are now more visible and more readily available. This, of course, has had a great impact on the massage parlor industry.

We can talk about the pros and cons of hiring online as compared to going to an establishment. There are many reasons to be sure, however I feel that discussion is rhetoric and pointless. One goes where one chooses for whatever their personal reasons are. Hire online or hire on site is really dependent on the individual's preference or circumstance. A personal choice.

In two years time there will only be a handful of massage parlors around. This I can say with almost 100% certainty... As massage parlors close their doors the pool of boys found in some of the websites might also shrink. This is because some of the sites that specialize in featuring the guys found in the massage parlor industry are guys that are stay-ins (those who in live in the premises of the establishment). Closed doors means no place to live for most of the guys.

A Symbiosis turned Cannibalistic Relationship.

Massage parlors and some online sites ideally would have a symbiosis of sorts. The massage parlors provides the guys while the online sites provide the visibility, directing them to the spa where these guys work. Additionally, discussion of the establishment and the guys can be seen on forums or comment pages to provide good customer feedback. This would then allow the cream to rise to the top. Those not willing to improve their services just fade away while those who provide superior service, propagate. Everyone is happy, especially the clients.

This is an the ideal situation. Sadly we don't live in an ideal world. What can be a symbiotic relationship is now, for lack of a better word, cannibalistic. What should have been a mutually beneficial relationship now seems destructive to one or both parties. I for one, being a person who likes choices and the abundance of men to choose from (regardless if they are found in a spa or are freelancers), am a little saddened by this. I want everyone to thrive, massage parlors and internet sites alike.

Change or Die (or is it?)

Maybe an agreement can still be formed between the massage parlors and the online sites, but that seems like a pipe dream. Mostly because of the stark difference in ideals and characters of the personalities involved. A clash between the old way of doing things against the new. In any case, the Pandora's Box has now been opened and the repercussions may not only be felt in the massage parlor industry.

Establishments need to follow a set of rules. Freelancers don't. It is stating the obvious, but I don't think a lot of people appreciate this statement enough. There is one particular rule that establishments need to follow that is of great importance. That is, all of the staff in a spa needs to go for a weekly checkup to assess that they are physically fit for work. Freelancers don't. If only for this reason, the massage parlor serves a necessary responsibility (some would say necessary evil).

Since one can only certainly change oneself and most certainly how one reacts to the outside environment, the onus is really on the owners and management of the massage parlors. How does one cope with this new dynamic? How does one adapt to change? Can the owners of the establishments really adapt and move with the change? While most owners are uneducated and have little or no clue to what is happening in the client-provider dynamic of this industry due to the internet, there are a few who seem to be intuitive if not fully aware of this. A handful really.

In the end, besides adjusting to this new dynamic the owners need to remember that the basics never change. Provide good customer service. Provide a good environment for your clients as well as your employees. The clients will go to where the best boys are. The boys will go to where the best clients are. Provide a place for where both will meet and your establishment will weather whatever dynamic changes are in store in the future.

I wanted to edit and upload the video of the Cosmo Bachelor Bash 2012 within hours after the show ended, just like what I did last year. Bad idea to try to edit the videos that I took while half-asleep. I ended up deleting them (what little I had).... Sigh. Hopefully someone uploads one. Even if it was just the Rocco Nacino, James Blanco and Markki Stroem segments. They were H-O-T!

What I had left were some photos that I took during their rehearsals. Might as well share them.

Why close Q?

June 30, 2012.

I write this on the final night of our operations at Q.

I sit here behind the counter at the reception area, here on my desk and I still ask myself if I am doing the right thing. Did I give up too early? Should I still try to fight the good fight?

Why close Q? What I have mentioned so far in my previous posts are all factors. Major factors to be sure, but not really the real and personal reason I have for closing down Q. The real answer, in the end, is that I have grown tired of fighting for Q. Of fighting all the authorities who have deemed a business illegal and therefore are entitled to a cut of the earnings just because it caters to gay men.

I thank you for all the good times as there have been many. I thank you for all that I have learned this past 4 years. I thank you.... but it is time that I move on.
