FOTM Greg Brady, who has appeared on Toronto Mike'd several times, has been the AM640 morning show host since 2021, following the firing of FOTM Mike Stafford. This morning he announced he's leaving the show to seek the candidacy for the Conservatives to run in Ajax.
Here is my announcement from "Toronto Today w/ Greg Brady" from this morning's show. I'll save the build-up. I am leaving the show & my amazing work family at 640 Toronto, and am seeking the candidacy for the Conservative Party of Canada, to run in my hometown of Ajax, Ontario. My family, my friends, my community, & yes, Canada, & our future prospects.....they mean everything to me. This isn't about "leaving" something - it's about sprinting "towards" something of critical importance. I believe we can right some wrongs in our country. I think we have had all the wake-up calls we need - in the last 4 months....& in the last 9 1/2 years. There will be a lot to learn, a lot of new things to embrace, but I'm brimming with energy, confidence, & the belief that this is a great landing spot, & my firm belief that Pierre Poilievre will make a fantastic Prime Minister - and it is imperative for our future to do that work to make sure that happens. Here's more context on this exciting moment - and, of course, a lot of people needed to be thanked. I'm stepping away from 640 (unlike so many radio departures) having the most fun I've had in ages, with the best people I've worked with, & for in ages. This should speak to the importance of our moment -- where I live, where you live - where we all live, as Canadians. Thank you. We're going to get this done, &, yes, we're going to "Bring It Home". We must.
Taking his spot on AM640 is another FOTM who has visited several times, Kevin Frankish. “I'm thrilled to be joining the team at 640 Toronto – a powerful place for important conversations,” said Frankish. “Every morning, I am going to do my best in trying to help you make sense of what is becoming an increasingly senseless world. I will be asking the questions of newsmakers, and demanding the answers I know that you want, however, I will always try to send you off into your day in a positive way.”
Jesse Colin Young was the frontman and co-founder of the seminal Sixties group the Youngbloods, best known for their 1969 hi, "Get Together."
In this 1652nd episode of Toronto Mike'd and 39th episode of Toast, Mike is joined by Rob Preuss and Bob Willette as they kick out problematic jams. This episode is exactly 2:26:33.

In case you missed it, Breakfast Television have announced their new hosts and... it's Dina Pugliese returning and Tim Bolen joining her. Tim Bolen is a new name for me, but I'm told he was on the CHCH morning show.
Dina left BT two years ago after 17 years of co-hosting, and now she's back. Here's what she wrote on Instagram this morning.
Is this a crazy dream? Was it a two year long nap?
What in the moose-on-the-loose is going on here? 🫎
Whatever it is, please don’t wake me! 😂
Friends, I can’t believe it! 💃
I am back to BT, back with the crew and back with my amazing tv family that is YOU! 🎉 🥹
You will find no one more surprised about all of this than me! 😮
My cup runneth over with coffee, catch-ups and gratitude. 🙏
This feels incredibly surreal and incredibly emotional. 🥹
On behalf of Tim, Frank, Devo, Tammie, Melanie, Caryn and all of the wonderful BT crew, taking a moment to say, we love you! 💗
More details to come in my next post, I promise.
For now, let me just say that there is no BT without you, and I am so looking forward to sharing in mornings and laughter again.
I’ve “moosed” you all so very much….trying to absorb and feel this moment with each and every one of YOU! 😊
Love always,
Di
💗
Pooja and Gurdeep are happy to stay in radio and continue to be heard on CHFI.
And here's the story of how this came to be!

Welcome to this week's Open Mike. I'm Mike and I'll be your master of ceremonies for the day.
Feel free to use this space to vent, rant, share a story and/or ask a question of the FOTM hivemind.
Arash Madani is no longer with Sportsnet. "After 16 incredible years, my time at Sportsnet has come to an end.", Madani posted on X, "And honestly, what a thrilling ride."
Arash is just the latest in a lengthy list of talented broadcasters who have been fired by Sportsnet. Heck, earlier today I was visited by Mike Wilner, who suffered the same fate.
If you'd like to hear more from Arash, his origin story, and highlights from his career, he visited me for a lengthy chat on Toronto Mike'd. Methinks it's time for a sequel.
I loved Twitter. It was the only social media app I truly enjoyed, and I tweeted often. From 2008 when I joined until Elon Musk bought the company, I wasn't only engaged but I was attending Twitter Canada events and I even befrieded the Director of Communications.
A lot of the bloom fell off the rose when Musk took over and cleared out the Twitter Canada office, but I held on until Trump was re-elected in November 2024. That's when I stopped checking Twitter. But I didn't stop tweeting, because I had built up such a following there I thought it would be good business to paste promotional posts I was writing for Bluesky. So I did that, until today.
Today, during my chat with Mike Wilner, I realized that it was time to truly quit Twitter. So today I posted my final tweet under the current ownership.
If you followed me on Twitter, and miss my musings, follow me on Bluesky. That's where you'll find me.
This Bluesky post serves no other purpose than to give me something I can embed on torontomike.com since I can't seem to embed my feed. So follow me on Bluesky at bsky.app/profile/toro... and let the good times roll.

We don't talk about the 1975 Brampton Centennial Secondary School Shooting. When we think of school shootings, we think of the USA, where it sadly seems like a regular event. But in 1975, on May 28th, it happened right here in the GTA.
The shooting took place on a Wednesday, the school was closed Thursday and Friday, then it was school as normal on Monday. No grief counsellors,
Scott Thompson from Kids in the Hall and The Larry Sanders Show was a student at Brampton Centennial Secondary School in 1975 and was witness to the shooting. If you heard episode 1648 of Toronto Mike'd, you heard our chat about this traumatic event in his life that would go on to shape his life in comedy.
Here's a ten minute taste.
After every episode of Toronto Mike'd, I post about it on Bluesky and then copy and paste that promotional message to be shared on LinkedIn, Instagram, X and Facebook. On my Facebook post about the Scott Thompson episode, I received this comment from FOTM Banjo Dunc.
How could you air this Toronto Mike Shameful. I could barely get past the first minute. You gave your platform to a guy who finds the threat to Canada and Canadians "fascinating"? Then he brags about going there to happily tour while thousands of his neighbours are about to experience great suffering. Louise Penny inspires a nation. This guy? Not!
"Shameful?" Was Dunc talking about the same Scott Thompson episode of Toronto Mike'd I recorded Tuesday?
That 90 minutes I spent with Scott Thompson of Kids in the Hall and The Larry Sanders Show fame might just be my favourite episode of Toronto Mike'd, and I've recorded 1649 episodes over the past 12.5 years. Scott was the ideal guest... giving, funny, honest and thoroughly entertaining.
He opened up about witnessing the 1975 Brampton school shooting, how that shaped him, how he ended up in Kids in the Hall, why he'd never do another season for Amazon Prime, the Buddy Cole origin story, being firebombed in LA, a tender moment with Garry Shandling following his brother's suicide, and his experience appearing on The Simpsons three times. And that's just the tip of the iceberg!
When a friend and FOTM whose opinion I value tells me the episode is shameful and he struggled to get past the first minute, I realize you really can't please all of the people all of the time.
The Scott Thompson episode of Toronto Mike'd absolutely rules.
Oliver Miller, a member of the inaugural Toronto Raptors team, appeared in 493 games over nine NBA seasons. I loved The Big O, and asked Acie Earl about him when I chatted him up on Toronto Mike'd in 2023.
In this 1649th episode of Toronto Mike'd, Mike chats with filmmaker Ali Weinstein about Your Tomorrow, her new documentary about Ontario Place, the influence of her father Larry, and the murder of her Aunt Judy on October 7, 2023. This episode is exactly 1:17:59.
