I LOVE Kurt!! 17 Sep 2010 6:00 AM (14 years ago)

Kurt who?New boyfriend?? If only that were true! LOL~

I think he's relatively unknown to most, but I'm pretty sure most of you have heard this song : Glee's Don't Stop Believing :)

Ever since I first heard this mash-up by of Glee's Don't Stop Believing on YouTube, I got more and more absorbed by, not the singer Sam Tsui, but more into KurtHugoSchneider.

Okay. This was the most decent picture of Kurt that I found via google, but I still think he's cute. Just look at this..
The dude at the bottom left. Doesn't he remind you of Jason Mraz? :P

Well yes, I don't deny that Sam's has got a great voice that could easily beat any of the kids in Glee hands down, but I can't help but to admire Kurt.

I think he's the brain behind all the works! Not only has he got the talent to mix and mash-up songs, he does a decent job in video-editing, and best of all, he can play musical instruments like the piano and the guitar!! * I have a soft spot for people who can play musical instruments because I am a total noob-head when it comes to music. LOL*

He's got loads of interesting videos and songs sung by Sam and his other friends, for instance this amazing acoustic version of Ke$ha's -Tik Tok. You MUST listen to this song, it's just amazing :)

Recently he did a mash-up that consists of

1. Enimem ft Rihanna - Love the way you lie
2. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
3. Taio Cruz - Dynamite

And tell you what, it ROCKS!!!! If you love it, great news! They are giving the song as a free mp3 :) [get the song here]

Enjoy the songs, and do support Kurt and Sam :)

I think these are the people who should be getting more recognition, instead of say..Justin Bieber? :p

XOXO,

Wen Yi

I'm in the TOP 30! 15 Sep 2010 9:44 PM (14 years ago)

Hehe, TOP 30 of what? Miss Selangor Pageant?? *i wish*

I've been selected as the Top 30 bloggers for the MySelangor Story Contest! Check out my name here :)

Do read my submission entry for the contest here :)

I am extremely excited about this because it's my first time being in such a contest, and the fact that this is probably going to me my last vacation before I officially start working as a PRP :)

So what's for me in Stage TWO of the contest?

Basically the 30 selected bloggers will be flown in to Selangor for a 6 day/5 night tour of Selangor from 23th – 28th September 2010. I am supposed to start work on the 23rd of September, but I guess I'll have to plead my way to start work on the 30th instead. LOL~

On those travel periods Tourism Selangor will arrange for the entire tour itinerary, including return flights, meals and lodging!! *whee*

However, this next part is a real challenge!

Yes, I will need to do a video EVERY single day of the trip. To be really honest, my video editing skills are very minimal *shhh* But I will use these few days to learn as much as I can *fighting!*

=====================================================

So to all readers who have voted for me

THANK YOU~

This means a lot to me, as I've said earlier, it's my first time joining such a contest :)
I sincerely hope that I will be able to fully enjoy this experience, and that I'll be able to do a decent video-log everyday.

If any of you have suggestions or ideas or things you'd like me to do while on the vacation,

e.g. do a shout-out for your friends/family/bf/gf?

or

take a yoga pose everywhere I go?

or

take my infamous saranghae-yo pose everywhere?

or anything you'd like to see me do/talk about!!

Do drop a comment and let me know your thoughts :)

Once again,

Thank You!

and please continue to support me and my blog once the vacation begins :)

XOXO,

Wen Yi

Sky Trex Extreme Challenge!! 12 Sep 2010 6:00 PM (14 years ago)

Just the other weekend (September 5th) I went with my friends to Sky Trex which is located in the Taman Pertanian Shah Alam!

It was a fun-filled day whereby I got to

a) climb like a monkey

b) fly like a fox...wait, foxes can't fly.. i mean fly like a flying fox :p

We braved ourselves and took the leap of faith and directly joined the ultimate Extreme Challenge!!

It's the latest circuit in Sky Trex which boasts 21 challenges and heights up to 22metres! *woots*

It's really REALLY high. I'm not kidding.

But not to worry, safety is extremely well taken cared off.
Every participant will be briefed on how to use the "pulley" and will be given a chance to try-out a mini-course before being sent off to the challenges :)

Plus, if you chicken out halfway, there's an ayam exit for you. LOL~

Overall, if you book in groups of more than 10pax, you will be entitled to get a 10% discount! So each of us paid RM40.50 instead of RM45 :)

So here are more pictures to summarize the great day out!

I was only posing with the chicken exit, I swear!
I did not chicken out at all :D *proud of myself*

Posing around after completing the course :D

To end the post, I would definitely recommend everyone to go for Sky Trex!! It's really fun and I think it's money well spent!! But do note, it's advisable for you to book in advance online via their website [here]

As a final picture, here's me posing mid-air among the trees :D

XOXO,

Wen Yi

Movie Screening: Resident Evil Afterlife 10 Sep 2010 8:06 AM (14 years ago)

Special thanks to Nuffnang for giving me another pair of tickets to catch a movie^^ *whee*

I would also like to thank them for giving me my Gliteratti status once again!! *big smile*

Before the screening, we took two group shots with the two "cos-players": the umbrella corporation soldier and the hot Alice :D

Take 1: JayLeo taken hostage!!

From left to right (standing): Tony, Pennie, Umbrella dude, Me, Alice, Henry
From left to right (down): JayLeo, Baboon, Jayren, XX (there's always an XX in my pic *pai seh ya*) and Shii Teck.

Sorry ya, the picture is kinda dark cause I feel that my camera flash will make everyone look ugly, thus explaining my love for not taking pictures using flash :S

And here's ninja Henry!! and btw, we both got a pair of gloves each :D :D

======================================================

Runtime: 97mins

Plot: In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Trailer:

My verdict: 6/10

I didnt really enjoy the movie. Although there were certain parts which made me jump of my seat, I found that

1. The action is kinda fake. As in it's over board at times, and not as nice as it could be.

2. The storyline is kinda dull and predictable.

3. I don't really fancy the movie being portrayed in a game-like way. It's just weird to me, it's a movie, not a game.

4. I preferred the first ever resident evil whereby the lasers cut through people like tofu! lol~

And I apologise for the late review, I know I should have posted this up before you guys paid Rm18 to watch it in 3D, because honestly, I dont think watching its worth it.

The Flowers :) 9 Sep 2010 6:00 PM (14 years ago)

**Note: This is going to be a LOOONG post**

Okay, let's start off by me saying:

I miss my housemates a LOT!!

Me, Renly, Poh Yee and Chin Yeong during the Christmas Party in Glasgow [Dec 2009]

My student life was fantastic because I had them by my side.
I therefore dedicate this post to them: my housemates, Renly, Poh Yee and Chin Yeong.

The flowers in cheongmsam during the CNY event we organised in Glasgow :) [Feb 2010]

That's Renly and Chin Yeong having some fun in Glasgow. LOL.
Renly's the Mum feeding Baby Chin Yeong some contact lens solution I mean milk :P

I've been staying with Poh Yee since INTEC (way back in 2004 i.e. I've stayed with her for 6 years!! ENAM tahun!! As for the other two (Chin Yeong and Renly), I've stayed with them since I started studying in IMU in 2006 i.e 4 years! They have been great source of laughter and happiness in our little family :)

We've done all sorts of silly things together, including setting up a friendster profile for ourselves.

LOL...funny stuff indeed.
And here's the introduction to the flowers :)

Yes, I am bunga rafflesia of all things! Rafflesia!! I still have no idea why Mr Raj (the creator of the name: Flowers) named me Rafflesia >.<

Then there's chin yeong who got to pick her own flower; sunflower :)
Which I think suits her a lot, as she's a bubbly girl who brings happiness and laughter to those around her, kinda like a sunflower don't you think?

And renly is a periuk kera. LOL. I think Raj gave her that name because she has a very special ability (something to do with her mouth :P)

And finally there's Poh Yee, the pokok semalu, which according to Raj is the total opposite of her. As you all may know, a semalu (Mimosa pudica) is a plant that instinctively closes it's leaves as a protective mechanism when touched. Poh Yee on the other hand, bites (instead of shying away) when provoked. LOL~

============================================
So there's the introduction on four out of the original five flowers :)

Now, while I was studying in Glasgow, not everything was bright and sunny for me. I had my down times whereby I got depressed and cried, especially during the first few months in Glasgow [emo post here].

But I am thankful as I have great housemates who always cheered me up, and picked me up when I got down. If it weren't for them, perhaps my year in Glasgow would hv sucked big time. I actually had a really REALLY good time in Glasgow. I kinda regret not blogging more while in Glasgow as those memories would have been preserved forever in this blog if I had wrote about it. Oh well...

I will always remember that Chin Yeong and Renly did this note for me, while I was stressed out during our final study break in gloomy Glasgow. It's a cute note of their scribblings and random drawings of the places I would be going visiting after the exams :) And I am glad to say that I have visited all the places listed except for Poland :) Notice the little heart shape note there? That's by Sin Ye my lovely Kalyana Mitra :)

Sinye, Sinyen and Myself at Broga Hill recently.

Sin Ye darling, if you read this, I wanna say a big

"XIE XIE" to you, for being my great kalyana mitra who has supported me when I was the saddest in Glasgow. I am blessed to have met you and keep your positive energy going dear :) Mwahs~

Thats Poh Yee looking like Ju-On on bad hair days. And yes, despite her looking like Ju-on, and some say Vendetta when she gives the evil smile, she's been my housemate/roommate for more than 6 years, so I will still stand beside her. LOL. Miss Leong, if you ever read this,

"Make sure you learn how to drive so that you can be the one driving the car instead of me! And when I become the co-driver, I will make sure I fall asleep while u drive :P

To Renly, the baby of the house, who is adorable all the time and loves being manja-ed:

Mummy will be here for you till you grow old okay? *mwahs* Make sure u get married before me, so that I can carry my "cucu" or if you want "cucu-cicit" also can :P

That's Chin Yeong :) She's the tiniest in the house but has the biggest smile and biggest heart :) I love the fact that she's got such a kind heart and I am more than happy that she's found her prince charming :)

To Chin Yeong:

THANK YOU for being so patient and kind to me :) I really appreciate it. Hehe~ I know I've got bad tempers, but you are always so nice, meow will always remember it~ And faster get married with Jay Bee la..I wanna see your babies too.. hahaha~~

That's JayBee (representing Baby Renly while she was off with her Kennethsaur) and us during winter in Glasgow on January 2010 :)

And here's a picture of us housemates in September 2009, in Germany, during our first ever summer trip which lasted for 21-days. LOL. Here's the post I wrote on that long trip :)

Us girls with Brendan (the self-proclaimed leaf among us the flowers) during our graduation ball in Glasgow [May 2010]

XOXO

Wen Yi :)

====================================================

Opps.... I had missed out my other flower: DEVI~~

Hehe...she threw an imaginary bi*ch fit because I didn't mention her.
*shhh*

Devi dear,

You know I love you despite my not mentioning you in the post. I was in a rush to write the whole post and had wanted to focus on the flowers in Glasgow more. I sincerely apologize for not mentioning you. I'm so sorry dear~

Devi was my housemate when I was studying in IMU for two and a half years. She was the man of the house = the daddy! But she was always out of home, going around, leaving me (the mummy of the house) to take care of

- the baby (renly)
- maria the maid (chin yeong) and
- the milkmaid (poh yee)

LOL~~

Yes, we each had our own roles while staying in IMU :D
But Devi daddy cooks great mutton curry!! And is a great teacher! We'd all discuss past year papers together and she'll give the best explanation for everything :D

The flowers way back in August 2007.
ps: I was thinner back then. I've gained much weight since then :'(

Gay Pride in Barcelona :P 5 Sep 2010 6:00 PM (14 years ago)

I just saw this amusing video on Katy Perry's song: Peacock
And it is pretty funny. It stars a few men in thighs, dancing and miming to the song, and if you didn't even click the video, Peacock refers to their di*k. LOL~
Yes, I have a low standard of humour, I laugh at every little thing. LOL. So if it's not funny for you, then too bad lah~ :P

After watching the video, I was reminded of what my friends experienced while on our summer trip in Barcelona last June :)

We were walking to one of the main highlights of Barcelona: The Magic Fountain of Montjuic
when we saw this

Note: The bright yellow fountain on the left is the Magic Fountain, which changes colour and water patterns according to the music played. While on the right, was a great big stage booming loud music. And we saw foam being sprayed around, and so I got excited thinking it was an outdoor foam party for party-people to enjoy!!

So, we headed nearer to the stage, and used our cameras to zoom-in on the stage. And we got this image below:

Yes, a hot bod in undies. Eye-candy to most girls..but then we realized something amiss as we headed nearer the stage because there were more guys than girls.

It then hit us HARD when we saw this!

Yes...a gay couple making out.
My first time seeing a gay couple making out LIVE, right in front of me.
LOL. It was kinda akward so I didn't dare to stare.
But thankfully my friend got this picture, and thus the moment is immortalized forever! Haha~~

Well, we should have went to the exact spot the next day to catch the Gay Parade, but none of us knew about the Gay Parade until we left Barcelona *sigh* I would have loved to catch the Gay Parade just to see guys like this....
:P

Anyways, I don't think that gays should be judged. But it doesn't mean that I am asking guys to turn gay (there would be no guys left for me if all guys turned gay right? :P)

All I'm saying that gender is something that we're born with. If a guy is born on the earth to find that he loves the same gender, who are we to judge what's right or wrong. It's just a perception on what's acceptable or not. As long as the person is not harming another person, I don't think there should be any problems with gay-ism. In fact, I read this article a few days ago [link] about Malaysia's 1st gay church! *wow* The pastor is gay and surprisingly the church has been operating for three years. Impressive eh :)

And one more thing, I find it interesting that lesbians are more acceptable than gays.

Just because Britney and Madonna kissed on stage ages ago..

Just because Katy Perry sang "I kissed a girl" (Katy again?)

And just because Gossip Girl had this scene...

But okay I admit it, when girls kiss each other, it's HOT.
And I'm pretty sure both guys and girls agree on this point!
So Thank Goodness I'm a girl.
I get the privilege of kissing the same gender without being called a lesbian:P
But do NOTE that I'm not saying that I did either! So don't jump to conclusions okay? LOL

As a final note, I stumbled upon this picture below and found the tagline very "motivational" :P

ps: If you want more pictures and my story on what I experienced in Barcelona, do let me know :) Cause that'll motivate me to write about my Europe trip :) Thanks~

Miss Selangor?? Me? Maybe....NOT :P 4 Sep 2010 1:29 AM (14 years ago)

Hi all!!

I'm Wen Yi, born in KL in 1986 but raised in Klang, Selangor since I was 5!!

Right now, TourismSelangor is offering a FANTASTIC contest [official website] whereby 30 lucky finalists could get the chance to go on an all expenses paid trip to DISCOVER SELANGOR!! *woots* And here I am trying my very best to be Miss Selangor I mean the TOP 30 Finalists! LOL :P

Before start blabbing about why I should be picked, I think it is only fair if you know a little more about me :)

============================================

I was a happy child in pre-school, whereby I performed in both my two years in kindergarten.

But somehow my graduation picture when I was 6 came out like this. LOL. Read more about my birth and pre-school here :)

Ever since I was a kid, my parents have brought me traveling around Malaysia. In fact I have been to every state in Malaysia except for Kelantan, and I have even been to Thailand when I was only 4! That's probably why I have a love for traveling :) [some of short travel stories can be found here and here.]

Fast forward, you get some ugly pictures of myself in primary school [here] and secondary school. LOL.

After SPM, I was off for National Service in Terengganu.

After SPM, I was lucky enough to given a scholarship by JPA, and my path was paved for me all the way till recently, I graduated with a degree in Pharmacy.

==============================================

*phew*

That was my 24 years, over-summarized into barely a hundred words, but hey, this post is about Selangor, the best state in Malaysia to me :)

I love Selangor because there's loads to do in this very state!

There's shopping (a lady's favoritism pastime :P)

There are great views to be seen from the little hills all around Selangor. For instace, Broga Hill at Semenyih which I visited recently :)

To me, the beauty of Selangor hit me in the face when I met an guy from Uruguay, called Patas, while back-packing in Taman Negara with my brothers in May 2009 [read it here].

After befriending Patas, he came over to Klang and stayed as a guest in our humble house in Klang for a few days. With the short time that he spent with us, my family and I brought him to, what we thought, are the highlights of Selangor.

The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque or more fondly known as
the Blue Mosque, Shah Alam :)
Did you know that the Blue Mosque is the largest in South East Asia?

The next day, we brought Patas to Batu Caves, Gombak :)
Whereby we hiked the whole 272 steps of the cave and was more than happy as it was also my first time visiting the caves :)

And on Patas' last day with us, we brought him to Kuala Selangor for yummy seafood and fireflies :)

After his stay with us, Patas, the gracious guest Thanked us for being his host. But in reality, I was the one who was supposed to thank him. It was because of Patas did I get the chance to become a tourist in my own state.

Let's be honest, how often do you become a tourist in our own state? Not often, right?
It's only when relatives from another state pay a visit do we become "tourists" in our own state.

I know for a fact that there are many more places in Selangor to discover other then those I have mentioned above. Sadly I find it very hard to get 'kakis' to join me in my quest :(

For instance I blogged not too long ago [here] about my wish to visit Kanching Waterfalls in Kanching Forest Reserve, Selangor. But I have yet to go because of the recent outbreak of Leptospirosis :(

So, after all said and done, please vote for me so that

I can become a tourist in my very own state: Selangor :)

Terima Kasih :)

Wen Yi

Vote for Me~~

ps: If I get selected as the top 30 finalists, then maybe I can pose ala Miss Selangor while traveling :P :P

Merdeka Eve Outing :) 3 Sep 2010 6:30 PM (14 years ago)

Just the other day (on Merdeka's Eve) I was out ice-skating in Sunway Pyramid :)
Before we went to the skating rink, we filled our stomachs with McD. LOL I always head to McD for their Filet-o-fish.

Sherrine and I posing with our fries :D

Jeannette, Ah Ken and Sherrine
Finally it's the girl's turn to pose.

But, some guys skated past right in front of us really fast. And Ah Ken took this shot of me with my mouth wide. LOL...

Now this picture below is way better. At least my mouth ain't gaping wide. LOL.

More posing...LOL

Then after we're done posing and heading back to rest, Ah Ken took this pic.
And no...I am not "kap-ing" the guy in white pants...

Solo shot of Meow~

I haven't skated in ages so I had to "refresh" my memory on how to balance myself on ice, and even then I still freaked out. Even kids skate better than me *sigh* But still, it was fun having Jeannette, Sherrine and Ah Ken to keep me company. Hehe :)

LOL. This was the picture of the DAY! Ah ken being gay with the ladies bags :D

After skating, we walked around the mall and noticed that they decorated the center concourse area with the them of a ktm station. Yes. KTM station. LOL.

I think Pyramid must be secretly wanting a KTM station to be built directly in front of the mall so that it'll become more accessible to the public. And I definitely think that having a KTM station would benefit the public as well, because I had to take a public bus all the way from Klang to Pyramid and it was pretty inconvenient :S

A funny shot of me while waiting for Ah Ken to snap my pic. LOL
On the very same night, I went to Neway Centro, Klang for a night session of karaoke :)
And it came with a buffet dinner :)
Although the spread wasn't that fantastic, it did justice to my hungry stomach :D
Plus, they allowed us to switch our drinks to Kampai.

(note: To kids under 18: Please don't start drinking alcohol. To adults above 18: Please dont drink excessively and dont drink and drive.)

Overall, I had a great day out :)
But when I woke up the next morning, I saw this!

The horrors that would happen to an unskillful person after ice-skating = =

Movie Review: Cats and Dogs Screening :) 1 Sep 2010 11:51 PM (14 years ago)

Thanks to XiangCool and Advertlets I got two tickets for the movie screening of Meow and Woof Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore :D

Check out my earlier post which got me the two tickets here :)

And thanks to JayLeo, my previous "date" for the screening of Going The Distance (read my review here) I got a total of 3 tickets for Cats and Dogs. Thus I decided to bring my parents for the screening :)

My parents :)
Mummy and I :)

Prior to the movie, the bloggers meet up at Kim Gary for dinner.

EdwinCK, JayLeo, ShiiTeck, Me, XiaoTong and Calvin

Me, XiaoTong, Calvin, CleverMunkey, Jayren, Toninkush, Jackie, Shannon, EdwinCK, JayLeo and ShiiTeck

After collecting our tickets, we cam-whored a bit.

And then we headed to Baskin Robbins which was having on offer whereby you can get two-scoops of ice-cream for the price of one-scoop (RM7.50) just by showing anything pink!

I fumbled my handbag, top and bottom, inside out...and failed to find something pink @.@
Yes, pink might be a girl's favourite colour..but apparently it's not for me :S

Shannon and her two-scoops of ice-cream :S

================================================
Alrights, now for the movie review. LOL~

Duration: 82mins

Plot: The ongoing war between the canine and feline species is put on hold when they join forces to thwart a rogue cat spy with her own sinister plans for conquest.

Rating: 6/10

It's a decent movie for kids yet amusing enough for adults :) As for the storyline, it's nothing much to shout about, it is a kids movie after all. But I liked the fact that it did a parody on 007 James Bond films. LOL. In fact the starting of the movie was did intentionally in such away that reminded me of 007:Golden Eye. They also included parody of the infamous Alcatraz Prison and Hannibal. LOL~ (that explains why I laughed so much in the movie).

So overall, it's a pretty enjoyable movie :)

Happy Merdeka :) 30 Aug 2010 4:00 PM (14 years ago)

Malaysia is celebrating it's 53rd independence day today, and in Malaysia, this day is fondly known as Merdeka Day :)

As much as I love my country, I see much "wrongs" in the political scenario that I doubt can be fixed within the years to come, especially regarding racial issues :( Although I know that we, the younger generation of Malaysians, should be taking charge of the nation, pushing our rights to shape the nation for a better tomorrow, I cannot fathom myself ending up another Teoh Beng Hock. There is much hype about his death, and the people are still asking for the truth, but the court case has yet to be resolved, and is still going on even though it is more than a year after his death in 17 July 2009. I do sincerely hope that his case will be resolved, and that the truth about his murder will be made known to all.

Talking about politics in Malaysia doesn't stop at racial-issues. Politics affect the nations' economy as well. I absolutely love this read; a keynote speech by Tengku Razaleigh early August titled "We were once Malaysians" I do urge everyone to read it, and judge for yourself how true his words are about the current developments of Malaysia, and how we, as a nation, are trailing off behind other nations in Asia. We're losing out economically, and that is a fact.

Okay, talks about politics always make me sad and that's not the way to celebrate my nations' independence. So, let me end this post with a funny video (which gamers will enjoy) made by a friend of mine.

Happy 53rd Merdeka to you Malaysia :)

p.s: Readers who are of legal age to vote, do register yourself as a voter, and use that vote to help make a little difference in our country :)

Movie Review: Going the Distance 27 Aug 2010 7:05 PM (14 years ago)

Thank You NUFFNANG for giving me TWO movie passes to catch the movie "Going the Distance" starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long :)

It's a really sweet and romantic movie about two people falling in love and trying to make a long distance relationship work. But before the guys go
"Ewww...not another chick flick"

Let me convince you that it's not the common chick flick. It's a matured movie (rated 18sg in Malaysia) which is very well infused with sexual erm...jokes? as well as the usage of the word f*ck
Which I think is great as it shows that the Malaysian movie board has finally decided to let Malaysians grow up by watching uncensored movies :)

It's hard to explain how interesting the movie is portrayed so here's the trailer for the movie. If you enjoy the trailer, you'd probably enjoy the movie itself too :)

=====================================================
I am really glad I made the long drive all the way from Klang to MidValley just to catch the screening because I got the chance to meet fellow bloggers:

LikiChee
JayLeo
Richard
ShiiTeck
Sheerene and Xiu Qi
XiangCool
Toninkush
Shannon
Debbie

(do let me know if I missed out anyone else, because there were so many bloggers, and I met them all for the first time. So do forgive my aging memory *gomenasai*)

*yay, I've gotten pictures from XiangCool *

It was indeed an interesting day for me, because I found out that I was the OLDEST blogger among them >.< Man...age is definitely catching up on me *sigh*

Plus, I got to meet my high schoolmate ShinDee (a.k.a The Gypsy) after such a long time!! It was great to have met her that day! And yes, I will update my blog regarding the places I have traveled in the past year soon ( I shall try not to procrastinate *fingers crossed*)

Thank You :) 26 Aug 2010 11:03 PM (14 years ago)

A big thank you to James, the writer of Poems from the heart, for mentioning me in not one, but two posts in his blog :)

I first got to know James while I was blog-walking, and I found the poems in his blog really heart-warming. Some are inspirational, some are touching. For instance he wrote a poem about the passing of his mother, titled "Without You" and it caught my heart and made me appreciate my parents more.

James was very kind of have read my posts and commented on them. In fact he loved my post on Liu Wei, the Chinese armless guy who played the piano using his feet so much that he linked it to his blog here :)

So here's my response to his recent post dedicated to his readers (me included :)

Thank You James for your comments. They have provided me with much motivation to continue blogging :) Keep up with your great and inspirational poems. I am more than happy to have made your acquaintance and will continue to be your faithful reader :)

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sze Hui for thanking me in her blog, although all I did was to leave a simple comment on her heart-felt post titled "You don't read my blog anymore"

She wrote a brilliant post on how bloggers have changed their style of writing, from writing personal thoughts into writing more advertorials instead. I can't help but agree with her.

I've been blogging for years (since 2006) in case some of you never noticed and have never made a single cent of of nuffnang. LOL. I know it's embarrassing to say it out loud, but hey I am not a brilliant nor famous blogger what-so-ever, but this little blog is my mark in this vast internet world, and I am more than thankful to those who actually read my posts and leave comments :)

SO thank you to those who have commented :) Your comments are much appreciated as it reminds me that there are people who actually read my blog :D *happy*

THANK YOU ^^

Graduation in IMU 25 Aug 2010 9:17 PM (14 years ago)

I'm officially a returning graduate of IMU as of August 21st, 2010 :)

It was a day whereby my parents and friends where beside me.
To be honest, graduating twice for the same degree isn't that fun. In fact it's quite a waste of money :S But at least my parents got to see their first child and only daughter on stage getting her scroll :)

I'll the pictures do the talking instead :)

My parents and I at the start of the day. (Note: only one bouquet of flowers)

My parents and I again after the ceremony. Note: Three bouquets of flowers :D
I was a happy girl, and my first and only time receiving so many flowers within a day >.< *I am a blessed girl indeed*

My housemates throughout my university life are indeed the most important friends that I have made so far. They've lived with me for years, withstanding my tempers, through thick or thin, happiness or sadness.

Yes, if they weren't all attached and if I were a GUY, I'll marry them all :p

From left to right: Me, Poh Yee, Chin Yeong and Renly

Yes, I am a greedy happy girl with my three bouquet of flowers. LOL. While Poh Yee poses with her super-angelic look here, but truth be told, that's a mask :P *shhhhh*

Also, I've got my secondary school friends to thanks for being there on my memorable day~

From left to right: Pei Li, Soo Hui, Me and Benjamin.

They've been great friends over the years, since the days I entered high school till today. That makes our friendship more than a decade old! (Yes, that's how old I am :P )

Here, are the Incovar-ians who came and made the day memorable as well :)
From left to right: Sin Hui, Sin Ye, Me, Kenny, Feb's friends, Febrianna, Ming Yi, Ai Xin, Michelle & Yong Wei

(Incovar is a camp for youths and runs twice every year. It is opened for everyone who wants to meet new friends and learn more about Buddhism at the same time. I've joined two Incovar camps to date and I never regretted joining them. In fact I learned a lot, and made loads of friends :) So to those who are interested, do join their camps :)

And yes, similar to the graduation in Glasgow, a picture of the 8 "housemates" of D8 and C1 is a MUST! Yet again Choong Lii is missing in action, but we've substituted him with Kayin instead :p

From left to right: Poh Yee, Ah Ken, Renly, Choon Hau, Me, Cheh Hsia, Chin Yeong, & Kayin

Graduations are never complete without taking this picture :)
The throwing of the mortarboard :)
The happiness that comes with throwing an unbreakable hat is unexplainable :)
At the first throw, I was anxious.
At the second throw, the hat seems lighter.
At the third and subsequent throws, it feels like a sport whereby the winner is the one who throws the highest. LOL~

And as the hats fall onto the ground, we're all smiles :)

I LOVE this picture a LOT!
It speaks a thousand words.
Just looking at the facial expression of my friends brings a smile to my face.
Some were staying away from the hat, one was "dancing", some were like me = smiling till my eyes were all squinted to a line, some were trying to reach for their hats, while by standers look at the hype that's happening :)

To end this post, here is me, looking like an OL (Office lady) with all the gifts from loved ones :)

=======================================================
Just for laughs.

Today as I was removing the graduation bears which came with the flowers I received, I noticed something peculiar about the bears. They were all sodomised :( Poor bears~

Look at this little white bear..A poor victim of sodomy..

And this "winnie the pooh" got it worse! Three holes~~ Poor thing indeed...

Just a random post 24 Aug 2010 7:59 PM (14 years ago)

Well, after I nearly burned down the kitchen, my life is back to the normal days of bumming at home, doing nothing :P

Good news is that I will be starting work after Hari Raya :)
That means I have another 3-4 weeks of holidays :)

I am a little lazy to be updating about my daily mundane activities, so here's a picture which I took while I went down to KL last week.

I really love it <3
Maybe it's the black and white effect which gives it a tinge of sadness, or maybe it's just my love for the pouring rain :)

ps: I could really use a heavy shower today. The weather has been so HOT!!!

I almost burnt my kitchen!!! 22 Aug 2010 11:18 PM (14 years ago)

I nearly burnt my kitchen while wanting to cook red bean "tong sui" *sigh*

I had soaked the red bean since I got up in the morning (because beans are supposed to be soaked for a few hours so that they soften easily when you cook it), and just now, I put them into the pot and left them to be boiled.

While the pot of red bean was boiling, I left the kitchen and planted my lazybum in front of my lappie, surfing the internet and "maintaining" my blog (replying comments in the chatbox i.e blog-walking + clicking ppl's ads), plus I was chatting on both MSN and twitter at the same time. Thus I completely forgot that I left that half pot of red bean boiling under full fire = =

While in front of my lappie, I smelled something burning and thought it was someone burning something outside (you know how chinese ppl like burning incense and papers for their ancestors? it smelled exactly like that..plus it's the 7th month of the lunar calender right now, you know, hungry ghost festival and all)

After awhile, the smell got so strong that I immediately jumped up and ran into the kitchen and found this:

*sigh*

It's horrible. The kitchen now stinks of smoke, and the pot is blacker than black = =

Whats worse, the red beans became black beans! = =

On a side note, I'm lucky the pot didn't explode! But now I have to scrub the hell out of it :S
I'm also lucky that I'm no longer staying in the hostel back in Glasgow, if not I would hv triggered the fire alarm = =

meowww want ticketssss 22 Aug 2010 6:10 PM (14 years ago)

Yes. I am joining another contest to get tickets to watch the movie "Cats & Dogs: The revenge of Kitty Galore" *wish me luck* To get the passes all I have to do is write on:

Which is my choice of pet…cat or dog? kitten or pup? Why so? And also state why I want to watch the movie.

Credits for these free passes goes to Advertlets and XiangCool.com

As most should know, I do not own any pets as my parents aren't big fans of letting their kids keep pets especially since our hamsters all died within our care. I promise I did not kill the hamsters, although my brother has the nickname "Hamster killer" when he was younger :P

But I do LOVE cats.

I bought this tee because of the grrrr-eat looking feline creature on the shirt!!! Adorable isn't it? Everytime I wear this shirt, people would say that's a cute cat! LOL~

So it's pretty obvious that my pet would be a cat!! My love for the feline creature is well known by my close friends, so much so that my beloved housemate ChinYeong got me this cat-shaped candy for my graduation back in Glasgow :)

Ah Ken holding the cat-shaped candy^^

And yes, I LOVE the cat-looking candy so much so that I forced, not one, but two people to pose with it! LOL~
This time it's Alvin who's holding it. I had wanted more "victims" for my cat-candy, but as you can see, the poor kitty fell on the floor and had it's ears broken off :( Sorry ChinYeong~~

And of course, if I ever get a cat, it'll be a kitten :)
One look at my blog's header and your heart be melted away by the adorable white kitties looking back at you :)

Forgive me for the open mouth, but I was trying to look out for other ppl who would look after the poor kitten who has lost her mother..I wish I could bring her back home, but my friends went:

"Bring the cat into the car, and both u and the cat are OUT"

So the poor kitty had to be left behind. I could still remember it mew-ing for the longest time after we left it behind :'(

So please please gimme the tickets to watch the movie cause I really do want to see how cats and dogs work together in some paw-kicking action against the skinny and hairless kitty galore!!

Please pretty please~

If I dont get the tickets, meowwww (me) would probably be hidding myself between bamboo trees while eating an apple :(

And just for laughs, here's the trailer to the movie. Enjoy :)

Graduation in Glasgow 19 Aug 2010 7:23 PM (14 years ago)

I will be graduating again tomorrow :)
And when I say again, it's because I already had a graduation back in Glasgow (my final year was in Scotland :D) and tomorrow will be the 2nd graduation back in Malaysia :)

It's not like I've graduated with a degree the first time, and this time a PhD, although I wouldn't mind getting a PhD :P :P

It is really nice to be graduating in a foreign land with loads of friends around me :D
The following will be a mini-flashback of how graduation in Glasgow was like.

Meow and Renly entering the graduation hall (Barony Hall to be exact) as a graduand :)

The scenario in the hall upon the arrival of all the VIPs :)
While in the hall I squeezed time to snap a few pics with my Scottish friends :) This is Fiona! She's a lovely girl who hails from Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland) and she was a great host and brought me to Edinburgh Zoo :D

This is a picture of Fiona and I on a more casual occasion, having famous homemade ice-cream in St Andrews :)
Then here's David, Laura, Me, and another Laura (Laura's kind of a common name over there..lol)

And here's a picture of Me, David and Fiona at the beach at St Andrews. Man, I miss those days :)

Not to forget Duncan who's absolutely cheeky and Keith (the hongkie in Scotland :P)

LOL.. that's Duncan as William Wallace ( the Scottish Hero :P or if you guys watched Braveheart, you guys would know William Wallace as Mel Gibson) and me as a Vampiress :P
Keith and I at the graduation ball :)

Okay, enough of reminiscing on the good times I had in Glasgow (maybe I should stick my ass down and write a summary of my year in Scotland, it'll be really nice to be browsing through the tonnes of pictures I accumulated over the year. If each picture I have is worth a pound, i'll be a rich girl.. LOL.

Back to the graduation in Glasgow :)
While outside the hall, we took all sorts of silly pictures, for example this below..

We're all Harry Potter wannabes :P Actually it's because it was drizzling that day (typical gloomy rainy Scottish weather to mark our graduation day) but it was a day to be remembered.

Ps: Note how the guys are wearing kilts? Cute aren't they? (the kilt la..not the guys :P)

Sad people are we because of the bad weather. Look at how messy our hair is :S

My "family" for a year in Glasgow (with Choong Lii missing in action).
From left to right: KenKen(Vern Xi), Meow, Jay Bee (Cheh Hsia), Cucu (Chin Yeong), Kennethsaur, Baby Renly, Choon Hau (the stick insect), and the not so shy Poh Yee :P

I super like this picture because of the various facial expressions we have while "forcing" Ah Ken's younger bro who's looking smart in his cap and light blue top with a vest :) [Ah Ken: too bad u're longer as cute as ur bro la...:P]

A mini-group picture of my batchmates in P107 :) Yes, we'll be good-looking pharmacists after fulfilling the 1st year as a pre-registered pharmacist (PRP) with the Msian government :p

Alrights, that about sums up my graduation in Glasgow :)
Next post will be on the graduation in Malaysia itself :)

It's time to be grateful for what I have 19 Aug 2010 2:36 AM (14 years ago)

Just the other day I watched this really touching video about a 23-year old participant in China's Got Talent. Yes, there is a China version of Britians' Got Talent and I didn't know it existed till I watched the video. LOL.

The guy is called Liu Wei and he played the song Mariage d'Amour (by Richard Clayderman) using his feet. Yes, his feet because he lost his arms as a young boy of the age of 10. Here's the video below of his life and how what he thinks of life (with English subs of course :P)

As sad as it is, I don't think that he deserves pity. But instead he should be given all the respect for he is a living proof that life still goes on, regardless what you have. All we need is to be contented with what we have in life and utilize it to the maximum.

To be really honest, I had wanted to write a post on myself today (as I think most of my new friends from the blogosphere don't really know what I studied or what I'm doing for that matter). But after watching this video, I think that my story can wait as it is nothing compared to Liu Wei's.

Much is to be learned from him. Much is there to remind us to be grateful.

Watching the video makes be ashamed of how I live my life. I complain too much sometimes, forgetting that I am indeed blessed.

I may not be living a fancy large house,
I may not be driving a posh car,
I may not own a LV bag,
I may not be the most good looking chick in town,
I may not have the perfect family that the sitcoms portray,
My love live is non-existent.... :S

But,I am blessed and lucky to be having a healthy body, a right mind, my parents alive and kicking (though nagging at times because they care), my siblings and friends around me, living in a peaceful country without a bloody war (political wars exist, but at least we're still alive).

There is much to be thankful about if I really sit down and think about it. Lucky am I to have my education sponsored by the government. (yes, I am a JPA scholar) and lucky am I to be able to type this post using my fingers instead of my feet. And the list would probably continue if I type this any longer..LOL

So I guess the moral is to count your blessings and be thankful for everything you have :)

btw, I got a new pair of specs!

Meow with the typical "siu mui mui" or "little girl" pose with my new specs :)

ps. I know I'm getting too old for such pictures, but I've gotta take more of pictures before I start work or else it'll be too late :P

pps. The next post will be on myself :)

A little motivation~ 16 Aug 2010 6:00 PM (14 years ago)

I know that most of the times I am demotivated.
I'd be sitting either in front of my lappie, surfing the net, facebook-ing, ebay-ing, etc. Basically it feels like I'm wasting my time away.

So in times like this, I would tell myself

Yes, attitude towards life can make a difference in life.

Like this cat for example (cute isn't she?? hehe~)
If you think a cat can't drink using a straw, think again :P

So what's putting us back in everything we do is our attitude.

I think most of us have read from e-mails that when the numerical order of the alphabets are used, the word ATTITUDE itself give us 100%.

And just the other day, I read this:

No one chooses mediocrity,
But many settle for it.

Very true indeed. No one wants to be just the Average Joe, but most of us are (even me). Although being average isn't a bad thing (as there are many others who are less fortunate than we are) there are times when I wish I were more than what I am. And I know that my attitude is the thing that's putting me back. But knowing is one thing, and to fully change my attitude is another :S

A delayed post on my trip to Bentong :) 14 Aug 2010 1:04 AM (14 years ago)

If you have not heard of Bentong, don't worry, neither did I. But now I do, as my lovely batchmate and kalyana mitra: Miss SinYe is from there!

Bentong is a small place in Pahang, situated really near towards the Pahang-KL border. And best of all, it's DURIAN-HEAVEN!

Yes, for durian lovers like me, it's HEAVEN indeed! The durians that come from there are BEST! Especially the Mau San Wang or Musang Durian! Just the taught of having HAD the soft, aromatic, creamy yellow durian makes my mouth water!!! *nyam nyam*

I am so sorry but this was the only picture of durian which I took throughout the trip, because I was busy munching the durians and had no extra hands for taking pictures :P

Anyways, as Bentong town consists of only TWO main streets (quoted from Miss Sin Ye) our miss "soya sauce" brought us to the Bentong Waterfall.

It looks really really nice, but we were unfortunate as it rained the night before, causing the water to become murky due to the mud, and the current was too strong for us to actually bath in the cool water :S

And since there is a warning that the waterfall is a death zone (kawasan maut), it's best that we don't play play :P

So we just took pictures there, before heading back to SinYe's house for MORE durians^^

Group pic of the girl that day : Chin Yeong, Renly, Me and SinYe

What Distance I’d Go for My Other Half 11 Aug 2010 7:47 PM (14 years ago)

Funny thing is, I haven't found my other half; at least not yet.

Aren't I worried about not finding someone? I am worried, very MUCH worried infact that I may not find my other half anytime soon :S

But my friends around me tell me otherwise, they say,

"Don't worry, everyone has someone. And if you believe it, your knight in shining armour is out there somewhere looking for you. And when he comes, tell him

"What too you so long? I've been waiting for you for the longest time"

Yes, as much as I love to believe that I would too have my own love story, a part of me doubts that. So to say, with the tiny-wheeny bit of doubt, I think I just broken the law of attraction.

Nevertheless, I do want to believe that I will find my other half soon :) *fingers-crossed*
Maybe I will meet a really good-looking doctor once I start working in the hospital :P
Or maybe I will get to meet a really nice guy from erm...the hospital???

And when I do find him, I will try NOT to make the same mistakes which I made in my previous relationship. And this time around, I will definitely go the extra mile to make my relationship work :)

I will try to be the understanding gf that I wasn't in the past.
I will try to be the one who makes him smile.

There's too many I will tryS in my mind right now, but I believe when I meet the right one, everything will fall into place even without me trying :)

And when I do find him, maybe I could revisit Paris with him :)

That's me, with short hair, under the Eiffel Tower last year Sept 2009.

But if I somehow can't find my other half, you'll probably see me beside a lake feeding breadcrumbs to swans or birds..LOL~~

But i think the swans don't like me that much. They are scratching their backs instead = =

I'm not stuck at home. Finally!! LOL~ 11 Aug 2010 8:06 AM (14 years ago)

Lately, my current daily routine would be:

Sleep. Eat. Online. Eat. Sleep

Boring stuff indeed.
But today, I finally wasn't stuck at home the whole day!

For lunch I went to Empire Subang for the first time!! The place is kinda nice, but it feels a little small, but whadya expect from it being built on limited land right beside the PLUS highway? LOL..and I forgot to take pics :S

Then I got home, chilled for a bit and went down to Amcorp Mall, PJ for dinner with Jacqueline (my colleague back when I was working in AcNielsen, PJ) ^^. Was really happy to have meet up and talked crap with her! Haha. Once again, I forgot to take pics to feed my lovely blog despite my camera being in the bag all the time :S

So here's a pic to sum up my day out!

^_^ V

*ps: Thanks to the new nuffnangers who visited my blog. It means a lot to me :) *

Fighting Umbrella Corporation 10 Aug 2010 2:14 AM (14 years ago)

*For nuffnang*

Now before you start singing

"under my umbrella-ella-ella eh" by Rihanna, after reading the title..

I would like to clarify that the umbrella that I mentioned in the title is the Umbrella Cooperation (or simply the evil company that unleashed a never-ending horde of zombies to the planet) in the movie Resident Evil! :)

poster

Yes. Milla Jovovich is HOT! That's why I'm writing this post in hopes to get free passes to catch the movie a day before it hits the big screen! * this is my first time trying out in nuffnang so wish me luck :)*

And as Milla Jovovich plays Alice in the movie, I wanna be Alice too! (of course I wanna be hot too :P)

Although being Alice, I could probably kick-asses with my super-human abilities and my clones (kinda like the Monkey King Wu Kong :P), and take down zombies without dying. Oh wait, I kinda forgot the fact that dozens of the clones died in the previous movie...

So, this time around, I'll get a hand from mother nature.

How so?

You know how sometimes when the wind blows really strong, and your umbrella will turn upside down??

That's the way to beat umbrella corporation; by brewing a storm in the cup!
And obviously to join me in my quest will be Storm from X-men! (just to add another hot chick to fight along Alice :P)

By using her powers, I'll freeze all the zombies (kinda like how Megatron was kept frozen for decades) and shoot them all down! Obviously when all the zombies die, Umbrella will no longer survive :)

Leptospirosis vs Kanching Waterfalls 8 Aug 2010 7:54 PM (14 years ago)

I was supposed to go to Kanching Rainforest Waterfall last weekend with my girlfriends. But an issue was brought up.

The issue of Leptosprosis.

I went "Lep-to-what?" (Yes, I am a future pharmacist, yet I did not know what Leptospirosis was. Disappointing I know = ='')

Anyways, after a few clicks on the internet I found out that Leptospirosis is basically a bacterial infection transmitted by animals, and in Malaysia, rats have somehow been blamed as the main perpetrator for the disease, thus giving it the nickname as rat urine's disease.

This was an issue because in the past few weeks, news reports of deaths due to Leptosprosis have been reported in papers.

".....Death of eight people believed to be due to melioidosis and leptospirosis infections after taking part in a search operation for a man who was drowned in Lubuk Yu, Maran, Pahang.

Another death was recorded due to bacterial infection involving a man who had gone for picnic at Lata Bayu, Baling, Kedah." [Bernama]

Soooo, my friend said that we shouldn't go to any waterfalls to avoid getting this disease. Meh.

But now after I did more reading on the disease, I conclude that my vote still goes to Kanching Waterfalls!!
Because for starters, Leptospirosis is a rare disease and despite the possibility of it being misdiagnosed, it is a curable disease just like Malaria (in fact the antibiotics used to treat both diseases are similar. There's also an incubation period for Leptospirosis just like Malaria.)

For those who are interested in reading more about Leptospirosis, just Wiki it, or if you think wikipedia is unreliable, there's always Medicine.net :P

See! That's what I missed out last weekend :S
I'm so gonna plan a next trip there soon :D

Baby steps to start a journey of a million miles :) 7 Aug 2010 11:35 PM (14 years ago)

Helloooooooooo people!!!

I'm finally back in Malaysia! In fact I've been back for 3 weeks now. After a hectic two weeks upon returning home (busy "lapor diri-ing" to JPA, SPA, KKM and the Pharmacy Board

+ going for Bon Odori

+ a drive down to Port Dickson for Ainul's Wedding

+ attending the American Boys Chorus show in KL (gawd look at my dark circles and eye bag = =)

+ meeting you with friends at MidValley

+ unpacking and tidying the room), I finally got more rest this week around. And now as I am entering the 4th week of returning to Malaysia, still "job-less" at the moment, I find myself with much free time :P

So I changed the whole outloook of my bloggie! (I forgot to take a pic of how my blog looks before this *sad* I think I've changed the skin of my blog a couple of times since I started blogging, but I never saved any pictures of it before. Meh. I should have kept a collection of the headers I designed as memories *sigh*)

Anyways, I have also decided not to call myself Peas anymore.

In case you didn't know, I'm about to start a loooooong story on how the name Peas came around and it will bore you, or maybe I might even bore myself. lol.

But the name all started almost 2 years ago when I just started to date my ex-bf. We used to call ourselves Peas and Carrots (after hearing Forrest Gump say something about peas and carrots being together).

When I was still with him back in Malaysia, I renamed my blog :
Peas on the run. (woots, the only header that I saved on my lappie^^)

Then right before I left for my final year in Scotland, I renamed my blog (again) as
Peas in Scotland.

Yes, you read right, ex-bf i.e past tense. Sad as it is, I've broken up with him for more than a year now, and I'm still single, while he moved on within 6 months of the break-up. But I still used the name Peas because I found it cute, but now I realize that it's not wise to use a nickname given by an ex-bf. Meh. Maybe that's why I'm still single. lol.

So, that's my supposedly long sad love story of how the name started and ended. So goodbye Peas. Sayonara and farewell~

As my life as a student ends, so does a new life as a working adult begin (in a few months time). I can't promise that I'll update my blog as frequent as it should be, but I will try :)

So say hello to Wene-ism!!!!

p.s: I've explained how wene-ism began at the sidebar, so go baca-lah, I malas nak type again :P
