Beneath the trees. 15 Oct 2015 6:36 AM (9 years ago)

"You seemed so far away," Miss Honey whispered, awestruck.
"Oh, I was. I was flying past the stars on silver wings," Matilda said. "It was wonderful."

Made you smile and look away. 9 Oct 2015 10:49 PM (9 years ago)

“I didn't pay attention to times or distance, instead focusing on how it felt just to be in motion, knowing it wasn't about the finish line but how I got there that mattered.”
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

I've always enjoyed picture books far more than your regular literature. Maybe it's just me refusing to grow up or the simple fear of knowing I could never be as eloquent with words. Yet having so much say. Then again words aren't the only adequate way to break silence.
And so I became a visual storyteller. It's good to be back. :)

Home is the nicest word there is. 8 Mar 2015 3:11 PM (10 years ago)

I woke up to the warm feeling of sunlight on my face. It filtered through my thin curtains spilling yellow on the floors. The world was quiet and for a mere moment I forgot everything I had to do that day. I suppose it was the best kind of morning. Hope you're doing well, my beautiful humans. :)

The way up, on, and over. 1 Feb 2015 6:22 PM (10 years ago)

A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.‘
I felt like writing down this quote. It seemed like a good way to start. I'm having trouble with it lately. Starting that is. Maybe it's because every start means that there will be an end. Tying loose ends, closing circles, finishing chapters - an outcome of some sort.  It doesn't matter what we call it. It's kind of scary. Being the thought-out person that I am, I feel like I react with fear when I’m uncertain of the outcome. Uncertainty being the operative word. But truth is, as long as I don’t start, uncertainty is all I will have. It's like darkness, stare at it for too long and you will eventually see what isn’t there. And oh how my mind likes to play. I know I must be talking in codes, but maybe some of you might also be working on your graduate work or whatever kind of a creative project and may just relate to my torment. Self-doubt is never good. It clutters the mind and keeps us from being the awesomest versions of ourselves. I feel like I need to remind myself that ‘the worst outcome of not trying is never getting to fail‘. I feel good about 2015. Hope you're well, my beautiful humans. :)

Once again I found myself breathing in the cold early November air. Waiting for the rain to turn lighter, turn into snow. A fine sheen of sugary frost on my windowsill reminds me the magic that snow brings. Time when everything is beautiful. Smooth and white and quiet.

Everything is energy / Baltika Group F/W 2014 23 Oct 2014 1:14 PM (10 years ago)

I guess it's a sad known truth by now that everything on my blog ends up here with a bit of a lag. But I feel like it doesn't matter, a story is a story and this one is about a lovely August evening when Baltika invited me to see their autumn winter collection. There was coffee and cake, beautiful people, inspiring fashion and that certain energy that you only feel when you know that you're about to see months and months of hard work play out in front of you (high five if you love that feeling!). It was about 30 degrees back then so it feels rather weird looking at these photographs when I'm sitting here in my icecold apartment wrapped in blankets and layers of clothes, but then again not as weird as it was back then - seeing the models in coats and hats walk down the runway in the kind of heat that would fry an egg inside a chicken. But the show was beautiful and I hope you like the photographs :)

First of all, it was October. 12 Oct 2014 12:31 PM (10 years ago)

I was sitting my friends dog over the weekend, who is one charmingly handsome little fella. And so we took some handsome walks, visited some handsome parks, met some other handsome dogs and their handsome humans. And as the autumn sun filled the air with mellow warmth, painted trees with gold and yellow, I feel like everywhere we went the colors sang. I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. :)

Define and conquer. 10 Sep 2014 6:37 PM (10 years ago)

'It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.'
Oh and it was lovely. So here are some captured moments along with some terribly shaky and rather random footage mashed into a video just as a tiny tribute to all the little things that made my summer into what it was. Hope you like the post and don't forget to live the adventure :)

Young blood / MPT behind the scenes II 29 Apr 2014 12:50 PM (10 years ago)

Shabang and finally the second part of the gorgeous FPD poster shoot morning. I love it when I get to spy on some beautiful humans and capture them in their natural habitat. I seem to have this new found respect for all kinds of 'behind the scenes' moments. All the action and hard work - oh so inspiring! All that's left now is to pack up my camera and wait until Saturday to see the whole thing play out in the Old Anatomical Theater. Hope you like the photographs  and be sure to tell me what you think :)

Shabang, lõpuks ometi on valmis ka teine osa minu spioonimisest. :)

Soft and sweet 22 Apr 2014 1:21 PM (10 years ago)

These past few days have rolled by in a bit of blur. We had to say goodbye to our furry little friend who had been fighting through an illness for the past month or so. It seems however that some battles are not meant to be won. And it doesn't help that I'm such a softie when it comes to animals, so losses like this really hit me hard. But whether I like it or not, this is how life is sometimes, and I've learned that the best way to get over something like this is to keep busy. So I've put together a little selection of some lovely moments over the past few weeks. I also had a little video planned, but for some reason I just couldn't get it to work, so just about when I was ready to throw my computer out the window, I decided it was not worth it. So we're just going to have to do without. Oh and I finally managed to visit the fashion exhibition "IDEA FORM" in Tallinn TV tower where my paper dress from 2012 is also featured. It really brought back some memories - aah.. all them sleepless nights. But anyway I'm going to let you enjoy the photographs now! Hope you like them and be sure to tell me what you think :)

Viimased päevad on meil siin kodus väga nukralt möödunud. :)

Rosebuds and peppermint tea / MPT behind the scenes. 9 Apr 2014 4:34 AM (11 years ago)

The birds are singing and it wont be long until I can dip my toes into the sea of bluebells which means it’s that time of the year again - Fashion-Performance-Dance is back. One of the biggest fashion competitions in Estonia, which will be held in the Old Anatomical Theater in a few weeks. And the exciting part is that I will be photographing the b'jesus out of it this year. And so that you wouldn’t have to wait for too long  here’s a little shot of inspiration for you guys. I’m going to let you sneak a peek into some behind the scenes moments from the FPD poster shoot. It was a minty fresh morning with gorgeous people and the ever so awesome FPD team. I will shower you with all the information and more photographs once the posters are fresh out of print. But in the meanwhile I hope you like this post and be sure to tell me what you think. :)

Like a feather in the wind. 27 Mar 2014 7:05 AM (11 years ago)

The last few days have been so impossibly windy that it feels like drifting away might just be a possibility.. or in my case crashing into some bushes with my bike. Yes well, to be completely honest it might have not been as much as the wind pushing me but the mere fact that my good old bike has no breaks. Oh well, like my dear brother used to say every time he managed to do something mind-blowingly moronic - life is an adventure. Haha, well it sure is. However my adventure time might be cut short since it seems that everyone around me has managed to get sick *curse this devious spring weather* and it's only a matter of time till I catch the bug. But until I do, I'm going to try to be as productive as I can and get some photos up for you guys. I have some exciting stuff coming up so lots to do, lots to do. Anyway here's a selection of rather awkward moments of me trying to keep my dress down and the hair out of my mouth whilst getting beat up by the sudden bursts of wind. Yep, chill as a cucumber! Hope you like the pictures and be sure to tell me what you think :)

The crackle of their fragile wings 20 Mar 2014 11:55 AM (11 years ago)

Just before it started snowing again I managed to photograph my newest addition to my wardrobe. I'm not easily impressed by clothes, mostly because everything on the stands today I can pretty much sew myself. But creating a marshmallow of a bag like this is a nut I'm sure not able to crack. So as a sucker for rucksacks I welcome this little fellow into my colorful family of bags. And it has become a bit of a tradition for me to mix and match some of my older photographs into my posts since they seem to be so lonely and sad just sitting on my hard drive. So just before flying to Iceland I decided to revisit my favorite places all over Estonia and of course the gorgeous flamingos in Tallinn Zoo were on the top of my list. I just love the delicacy of these feathery balls of fluff and let's be honest, it seems like I have fallen head first into their amazing color palette. So without further ado I really hope you like the pictures and be sure to tell me what you think. :)

Moving house & Instagram love. 16 Mar 2014 1:20 PM (11 years ago)

Just as I'm about to gush how spring has finally sprung and the air is all warm and sugary - what do you know, it starts to snow. Oh well, it's still good to be home. And in a new one at that. Aah yes, I am moving house again and still deciding whether I love or hate all the shenanigans that come with it. Although looking back at my last two years on this planet I seem to have relocated more times than one should in a lifetime. So maybe I do love it. Then again, what's not to love - going trough home sections at the department store, nitpicking on carpet softness, the never ending selection of curtains and the joy of transforming a simple space into a home. Besides after a while all the furniture arranging and planning and deciding starts to feel like a lovely game of chess - you just need to find the right person to play with. So here's a selection of rather random photographs that just seem to be all over the place, but hey - that's how life is sometimes. But in the midst of all this chaos I have finally jumped on the Instagram bandwagon. So you can find me @kertipahk if you want to cross over to the dark side. I have cookies. :)

Coming up for air. 27 Feb 2014 11:48 AM (11 years ago)

And finally the paperwork is done - signed, sealed and delivered so I am now officially on academic leave. Huh, who would have guessed that such a seemingly small thing could turn into one of the hardest decisions I've made in a long time. It might have something to do with the fact that my worker bee mentality has a hard time understanding the concept of free time or how one can even afford such luxuries as time off from something. But if there's anything I regret, it's the fact that I didn't have the courage to do this years ago, to take time just for myself and explore the world a bit. It's incredibly easy to lose yourself in your work and feel like you’re fighting an uphill battle. My battle being that I'm about to graduate a bachelors in fashion design and I still wonder weather this is the right major for me. It's like discovering that a big part of you isn't yours at all. And it makes you wonder what else you cannot claim. Almost like the feeling you get, when you realize that you've listened to you favorite song so many times, that the melody you once fell in love with is now just white noise. But don't get me wrong, this is a good thing. We often need to lose sight of our priorities in order to see them. And to quote Tove Jansson: "A person can find anything if he takes the time, that is, if he can afford to look. And while he’s looking, he’s free, and he finds things he never expected." ..and I feel light as a feather. So here's a little selection of photographs that have been bored out of their minds in my computer for the past few months, waiting for me to arrange them here for you to see. And I know that everything is nice and springy now and you're all probably fed up with the cold and winter and whatnot. But if it were up to me I would make snow angels all year around and count every single snowflake twice. Hope you like the pictures and be sure to tell me what you think :)

Cupid's played a joke on me. 16 Feb 2014 12:25 AM (11 years ago)

Hope you all had the loveliest Valentines Day. For some reason I have never been a fan of the holiday, but strangely every time the 14 February rolls around I seem to change my mind. So here's a little selection of photographs with a handful of glitter as the mellow sun painted the air with gold and everything got quiet. Hope you like them and be sure to tell me what you think :)

I live in my own little world. But its ok, they know me here. 27 Jan 2014 10:14 AM (11 years ago)

I'm finally feeling a bit better. Just wanted to thank you all for the lovely comments and words of encouragement. Losing a friend however small or furry is terribly hard. And I know I'm going to be sad for a very long time, but as Stephen Chbosky so nicely wrote down “Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.” So I am going to pick myself up and dust myself off. 2013 was an amazing year for me. Not only did it just flew by but I feel like I really challenged myself this year and stepped wa-haaay outside my comfort zone - of which I am very very proud. So here it is past year rolled up into a sugary ball of photographs. Some you've already seen and some you have not. All in all it was a great year - there was a lot of packing and moving, hard work and effort, countless sleepless nights, great success and twice as many failures, profound joy and indescribable sadness. But hey, I did it, and yes, I would like a medal, thank you. :) Anyway I hope you like the pictures and be sure to tell me what you think!

Vaikselt hakkangi ennast juba jälle inimesena tundma. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.”, siis on aeg nüüd need õnnetud killukesed kokku korjata, end tolmust puhtaks pühkida ja edasi liikuda.
