It's been long overdued. But finally, myMANybags is ready to embark on a new direction with a brand new site with a revamped design and logo. The new site will bear a more modern look, emphasising original photography with a responsive design for ease of viewing on different screen sizes.

Besides the themes of mens fashion, I will also be featuring a more varied content extending beyond bags and style, sharing opinions on places, design, technology, travel and more.

A big thank you to all my followers and readers who have given me their unwavering support through the years. I am very thankful to have my voice heard by all of you. The year is coming to a close with just 2 months to 2017. So no better time for Montblanc to launch a new collection of leather goods in time for you to reward yourself after a whole year of hardwork. New year = new bags!

The Montblanc Urban Spirit Collection will appeal to guys who wants modern designs combined with optimal comfort and smart storage solution, the modern gentlemen on the go. Each of the 22 piece in the collection is thoughtfully crafted to accompany this driven man, seamlessly from his workplace to the gym, from daily commute to his globe-trotting business endeavours or adventures.

Mirroring the multi-faceted lifestyle of this guy, many pieces in the collection have multiple functions to adapt to the demands of its owner as he transitions from one endeavour to the next. With its retractable handles, the Slim Document Case can serve as either a document case or as a portfolio, while the Tote Bag with its cufflink closure on the sides that allows the shape of the bag to be transformed from a daily workbag to a small duffle.  The Backpack (one of my favourites) is thoughtfully equipped with a side compartment for the storage of a laptop, a dedicated pocket for a phone with see-through holes for headphones, a satellite system, as well as a storm cap to protect the bag from the elements and reflective bands for added safety by night. Furthermore, with a simple and quick adjustment, the backpack can be transformed into a document case.

Fendi 'Faces' Mens Backpacks  For Fall Winter 2016 

There is a new ‘face’ in town this Fall Winter 2016, thanks to Fendi. Yes, the brand that brought us the quirky and coveted bag bugs has something new and cute to join your bag collection.

The new ‘faces’ collection (Inspired by the millennia generation of emojis and emoticons) cleverly uses hardware to create different face motifs on their new colour block bag designs. Complimented by bold colours, they achieve a very graphic appeal and most importantly, looking exceptionally instagram friendly. And since kitschy is the hot trend now, the more irreverently weird, the more interesting and wallet inducing they are.

However, the one thing that truly appealed to me for Fendi's new fall winter collection are not these surface embellishments. It is one of the very unique backpack design that allows the owner to conventionally wear the backpack on the shoulders and also allow for cross body sling, like a messenger bag. Very cool idea indeed!

Through the clever use of adjustable shoulder straps, the length can be varied for 2 ways to carry. It even becomes the top handle when in shoulder strap mode. A simple idea but highly innovative. I always find backpacks trying at times to retrieve your contents since they can be hard to sling to the front when on your shoulders. So being able to carry it like a messenger when needed (such as rushing up to the bus), the bag instantly becomes more user friendly.

There are many options for this format of the backpacks. Choose from furry ‘Faces’ motif in striking coloured fur or plain leather ones with a detachable clutch/pouch in contrasting colour (reminiscent of the ladies dotcom bag). I also adore the ultra luxurious brown mink version, but only if I am living in a temperate region and will feel so cosy during winter time:-P

Riccardo Tisci has been consistent in his delivery of progressive but yet highly wearable pieces for men each season. He understands what modern and fashion forward men expect and want in their closet. 
Designed like a complete wardrobe, Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy Pre-fall 2016 men’s collection comprises formal pieces of pared-down suits, tailored coats featuring monkey motifs to casual day wear of studded denim jackets, star print jumpsuit and faded jeans. The denim offerings are new to the season and just what any guy needs... staple pieces done with Givenchy’s modern spin which makes them all the more desirable. On the evening wear front, male peacocks can proudly adorn black suits embellished with micro chains, studs or stones in colours that makes one stand out at a party.




However, the highlight to me are all the gorgeous accessories that are sure to win many hearts over. Check out those baboon print backpacks and small accessories (I love the pouches and wallets!) featuring snarling primates menacing enough to warrant many looks. There are also understated document bags and duffels in grained burgundy leather or interesting embossed star motif pattern for those seeking classic styles with an edge. The shoes are not to be missed too. I love the sneaker style boat shoes, in felt or embellished with studs or fringe panelling. The thick sole hiking style boots and contrasting felt/leather sneakers feels fresh and are also some of my favourite footwear from the collection. Even the timepieces which has military styling juxtaposed with glamourous polished gold or silver got me very excited. I definitely want the barb wire bracelets which felt dangerously stylish!

Fendi Spring Summer 2016 'Strap You' Bag Straps For Men And Women

Fendi has had much success creating add on accessories to add playful character to your prized IT bags. Bag bugs and those cute (but slightly creepy) Karlito charms or miniature monster backpack keyrings are nothing but instant sell out during their initial launch. Despite the huge price tag... fans just willingly fall in line to offer their hard earned cash for them.

For this Spring Summer 2016, Fendi wants you to part with even more of your bank resources by introducing their latest bag accessory... the Fendi 'Strap You'. Quirky and fun bag straps that offers instant refresh to any weary bags, even those that are not Fendi. Choose from simple bi-coloured versions or exotics to floral appliqués and colourful square studs for the ladies. Or for the boys, multi-coloured granite print and coloured python options. (The guys strap will be longer with a different coloured metal clasp) I’d go for the simple coloured leather ones as those will be most suited for boys.

Many may frown upon the starting price of £300 for basic bi-coloured leather versions (womens) or even more pricey ones for exotic and heavily embellished variants. But you cannot dispute that they instantly make your bags relevant and fun again. Something to kickstart the visual appeal of tired bags and bring back your love for them. Now that is what I would call, a good investment accessory. Come to think of it, those ball of fur on bag bugs or miniature monster backpack charms cost even more. So the price of around £300 is not too unreasonable.

I need one for my light grey Peekaboo... a blue and red leather strap will change the look and inject much needed newness to it! Will have to try both womens and mens version on my bag to see which looked more suitable.

One of the hightlights for the upcoming womens fashion season for Fall Winter 2016... is the unveiling of the first collection from  Mulberry’s new Creative Director Johnny Coca. It is exciting to see what fresh ideas will emerged from this British house of leather goods, which was loved and then lost its lustre after parting with former creative director, Emma Hill.

With a new start are new changes. And most noteworthy is an updated logo for the brand, restored from an original 1970s logo he found in the brand archives.

The first collection by  will be shown at London Fashion Week on Sunday 21st February at 4pm.

Dior Homme Spring Summer 2016 Mens Bags: Get Ready To Camouflage!

If you have always been a fan of military themes, you are up for some really good looking bag designs from Dior Homme SS2016. It is an unusual break from the minimalist design approach at Dior Homme to offer prints even something as timeless as camouflage pattern. Very refreshing to see their contemporary take, which are not done in a grungy manner, instead, incorporated quite successfully into modernist silhouettes and clean lines. Even the hues of the khaki greens used have a more khaki tone, for a muted contemporary feel.

The outstanding pieces are flap closure backpacks in handsome navy and malt, with strips of camouflage pattern accenting the gorgeous smooth coloured leather. I also love the full on camouflage drawstring pouch which features a handy front pocket and handle. Outstanding bags for the new season to make you feel right at home in the urban jungle!

Gucci Spring Summer 2016 GG Supreme Canvas Mens Bags and Accessories

Asian themes are invading the mens runways for Spring Summer 2016. Louis Vuitton, Dolce Gabbana, Astrid Anderson and Marc Jacobs are some designers showing some form of interpretations of far east influences in their collections. While some of us (especially if you are chinese) might frown upon images of dragons and phoenix patterns on our fashion pieces (think chinese triad and gangsters or simply too old fashion perhaps:-P), but the rest of the world, especially the West might disagree.

Thankfully, the designers are not using these motifs wholesale and have injected their modern take, be it through colours, stylised imagery or production techniques. Gucci is one good example, where the brand has continued to refresh their once tired GG monograms and injecting new excitement to their mens bag collection.

I love the XL GG floral tote and backpack... it is kitsch in a fashionable way to have mixes of botany prints with embroidered bird and bee motifs.

The new Tian GG collection pushes chinese references even further, using GG Supreme Monogram canvas as backgrounds for floral motifs inspired by Chinese landscapes found on 18th-century tapestries and screens. Flowers, insects and birds-including dragonflies, butterflies and hummingbirds in colourful hues adding a unique east meets west flavour to these outstanding accessories. Choose from totes (USD1850) to duffle bags (USD1850), pouches and small leather goods. You either love or hate them. Thankfully, I am on the 'love' side:-P

If you are like me, in an endless pursuit of the perfect backpack... then here’s an option that might get you excited. I love a backpack, but I want mine to be more smart and less street. Sort of like an adult backpack that you can use confidently for work and yet versatile and durable enough for play. Backpacks have been rampant with many brands seeing how the style has taken off in leaps and bounds with fashion fans. We boys love our backpacks!

So it is no surprise even a traditionally refined luxury brand the likes of Mulberry are doing their take. Mulberry have fallen out of fashion’s favour lately... but let’s not forget this British leather goods maker still creates exceptionally beautiful products that transcend trends. I love their classic oak coloured leather, and their discreet and refined styling. So when it comes to their backpacks, you can expect these aesthetics.

Check out the new Mulberry Marty Backpack. I love the simple styling using beautiful grained leather which gives some structure and yet soft and supple to the touch. Not to mention, they aged well and will stand the rigours of daily use. The Marty backpack takes on a ‘outdoor adventure’ styling but through the use of quality materials, makes them suited for both casual and formal. The use of a snap hook closure and mountain climbing rope as drawstring all adds to a masculine, interesting design. These are the details that make a difference. The Marty backpack in midnight leather and nylon (£595), with 2 front pockets for extra storage is love at first sight! It also come in a full leather black version (£995) but I’d  picked this nylon/leather combo for it’s lighter weight and contrast of materials. I have a feeling Marty and I will be best buds if I ever acquire one myself! Love the handsome navy colour.

For a more compact version, choose the Small Marty backpack (£795) which comes in appealing shades of oak and black. Besides the size difference, the small Marty spots a sleeker appearance sans the 2 front pockets. All in all, the Mulberry Marty gets a thumbs up. Another option to possibly end your quest for the perfect backpack:-P

Disrupting the codes of sartorial dressing...Kris Van Assche’s Dior Homme Spring Summer 2016 mens collection showed models strutting down the runway, pairing suits with trainers and hiking style boots. A sense of sportive attitude and rugged outdoor spirit create fresh juxtaposition for the new collection. And this appealing combination cannot be achieved without those eye catching footwear.

I love the new footwear collection... a style I would deemed sportive elegance. Rubber soles typical of sneakers and outdoor boots attached to classic shoe styles, monkstraps in particular, creating hybrid designs that are original and interesting. The open toe sandals are one of my favourites, with zip details and buckles for a street cool while the refined leather and monkstrap style keeps them sartorially appropriate.

I want a pair! And those monkstraps too!

I have always loved designs of vintage watches. Details and styling from yesteryear adds a deeper character and makes the watches more endearing. Like an heirloom piece that you had owned for many generations, something to treasure and tell a story.

To my delight, Montblanc have released a new collection of watches, The Montblanc 1858 Collection that takes inspirations from the heritage of Minerva, a watchmaking manufacture founded in Villeret in the Saint-Imier valley in 1858  — the eponymous year of the collection. Minerva was renowned throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries for its incredible precision watchmaking. Since 2006, Montblanc have taken over the facility and now as a tribute, the 1858 collection is born.

I adore the designs of the collection, with details that encompasses history, successfully blending vintage inspiration and modern-day appeal.

I am particularly loving the period looking winding crown (Supposedly, they are, ergonomically designed so pilots during that time could wind them up in-flight while wearing gloves), watch dials that bear the historic logo of Montblanc used during 1858 and a large 44mm diameter case that references the actual chronographs manufactured during that era. Super-LumiNova®* coated Arabic numerals and indexes on the dial stays luminescent for a long time, making these timepieces perfect for function during night or day.

When worn, these vintage character timepieces look charming while packing relevant modern features that makes them efficient time keepers.

The Montblanc 1858 Collection features 4 unique designs:

1) 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter’ Limited Edition (only limited to 100 pieces) is a true collector’s dream with a 44 mm pink-gold case and an impressive caliber MB M16.29 manually-wound movement.



2) 1858 Small Second Limited Edition with Alligator Strap (limited to 858 Pieces) is well priced at USD3,255 and yet collectible due to a limited number of releases.
 
3) 1858 Small Second with Bracelet, priced at USD3360 is for those with prefer a more extravagant option most suited as an evening companion.

4) Lastly the more casual and easy to wear, 1858 Small Second with tan coloured calfskin strap, highly attainable at USD3045 (SGD4600) is a great addition on your wrist for injecting some historical flair to your style. (See 1st pic above)

The contemporary styling is another good reason to get one. Montblanc collaborates with design superstar Marc Newson for a new collection of writing instruments, Montblanc M, bringing together the maison’s long history with Newson’s trademark biomorphic style. The result is a Montblanc pen that balances form and function with a distinct sense of modernity.

So what can we expect from this collaboration? First thing to note is the unique silhouette on each of these Montblanc M pens. An innovative plateau at the barrel end breaks away from the shape of conventional pens. And when closed, ensures the clip on the pen cap aligns perfectly for a design that flows fluidly through. With the use of magnet, the cap closes precisely with ease while an additional snap mechanism ensures the cap remains firmly in place.

The body is crafted with black resin and milled with a diamond tool to create the plateau at the end. The iconic Montblanc emblem is put into place using ultrasonic welding for a perfectly flat and smooth surface. Rounding off the attention to design detail, a gold nib AU585 features a two-tone finish of rhodium and ruthenium for added appeal. During the launch year only, the nib is engraved with the letters “MN” as a tribute to the Australian designer who imagined this latest evolution in writing culture.

Look for the Montblanc M at all Montblanc flagship stores as well as online beginning September 2015. It will be available as a fountain pen, rollerball pen, ballpoint pen, as well as a screenwriter for use on a touchscreen, and as a fine art and fineliner for technical drawing.

With just 1.5 months to the launch on November 5, H&M has unveiled its Balmain x H&M collection ad campaign.

Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Gigi Hadid star alongside male models Hao Yun Xiang and Dudley O’Shaughnessy wearing looks from the collab and posing in a subway station. Juxtaposing high fashion and street has always been Balmain’s brand aesthetic and with H&M’s collab targeting the everyday consumer, the setting is definitely appropriate!

Preview Of Balmain x H&M Collection (Launching November 5th)

In anticipation of the hottest collaboration from H&M as yet, pics of Balmain x H&M’s collection launching on Nov 5th has surfaced around the web. Sorry ladies, it seems the boys get a headstart. So what can we expect from the street meets luxury lovechild of Olivier Rousteing?

The signature Balmain jeans are in! The military shirts and officer’s coat are in. The ever hot seller high-top sneakers are a must have. And the best piece in my opinion from this preview, the striking hot red leather biker jacket that will be head turner (but you have to wear it first before it floods the street:-P) Even a jumpsuit gets a push to the shelves come Nov 5th... I wonder if that will sell or anyone actually will rock it. The pieces shown so far are not new to Balmain... more like a best hits remade in H&M pricing. But fans will make a beeline bright and early on launch day... so best sharpen your claws and fight your way to get these. Please let me get the military shirt with epaulets. I love that!
