While regular at-home skincare like cleaning and moisturizing is critical to healthy skin, medical skincare can be the difference maker when it comes to restoring a more youthful, glowing complexion and eliminating troublesome blemishes for good. There are multiple anti-aging medical skincare procedures and products available to both men and women.
Medical skincare solutions target the root causes of common aesthetic concerns rather than simply masking symptoms. They work deep at the cellular level to both improve surface appearance and enhance long-term skin health. They can also be used alone or in combination with one or multiple other cosmetic treatments. By addressing issues such as collagen depletion, inflammation, and uneven pigmentation, these treatments promote robust and sustained skin improvements rather than temporary fixes.
If you are located in the Louisville, KY, area, Banis, Prescott Plastic Surgery is the clear choice for medical skincare therapy. Led by board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Joseph C. Banis, Jr. and Dr. Angela Prescott, our clinical team stands ready to help you with your aesthetic care.
During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your skin laxity, texture, and overall quality to craft your comprehensive, individualized treatment plan. Some of our most popular medical skincare options include:
VI Peel
This chemical peel offers incredible results when it comes to improving skin texture. The application of VI Peel triggers the deep exfoliation and replacement of the upper layers of skin, thereby:
VI Peel works with all skin types and delivers noticeable improvements with little to no downtime, making it a popular choice for those seeking smoother, healthier, and rejuvenated skin.
Restorative Skin Complex
This Alastin® Skincare product is used to remove damaged elastin and collagen while promoting the production of new, healthy fibers for tighter, brighter skin. Formulated with patented TriHex Technology, it reduces fine lines, improves tone, and restores skin elasticity.
SkinCareSolutions
Our proprietary SkinCareSolutions are physician-grade and focused on improving skin health. They include deep-cleansing solutions to clear pores, retinoid-based treatments to reduce breakouts, and brightening serums to even out skin tone. Acne-specific products work by unclogging pores, reducing oil production, and promoting cellular turnover to prevent future breakouts.
Facelift
If we determine that non-surgical treatments would not be potent enough based on your skincare concerns, we may recommend a surgical facelift performed by Dr. Banis or Dr. Prescott. This surgical procedure addresses sagging, deep wrinkles, and jowls by removing excess skin and tightening the underlying muscles.

As we leave the holiday season behind us and start looking ahead on the new year’s calendar, summer no longer feels as far away. If you’re dreading your bathing suit look, liposuction could be the perfect option to help you feel more confident in your own body for those upcoming trips to the beach!
If you are considering body contouring like liposuction or other plastic surgery procedures, the best option in the Louisville, Kentucky, area is Banis, Prescott Plastic Surgery. With advanced liposuction techniques, Dr. Joseph C. Banis, Jr. and Dr. Angela Prescott routinely perform stubborn fat removal for patients with the aid of over 55 years of combined experience.
During your consultation with Dr. Banis or Dr. Prescott, he or she will examine your medical history and bodily contours to determine if a fat removal procedure like liposuction is the best option for your individual needs. If it is, we can then discuss how to prepare your body for summer with liposuction.
With liposuction, we can remove localized pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Unlike weight loss surgery, liposuction is designed to reshape and refine specific areas, creating a more proportional and sculpted appearance. Using a cannula through a tiny incision, your surgeon will carefully target unwanted fat tissue, breaking it down and then removing it.
At Banis, Prescott Plastic Surgery, liposuction surgery can be performed on one or more of the following areas of the body for a slimmer, refined appearance:
After liposuction, most patients can expect some initial swelling and bruising, which typically subsides within a few weeks. Many patients return to light activities within a few days and resume regular exercise in about two weeks or as directed by your physician. Full results become visible as the swelling diminishes, usually within three to six months, revealing a smoother and more contoured physique just in time for summer.
To get your body summer-ready, you might also consider combining liposuction with other cosmetic treatments, such as a tummy tuck, fat grafting, breast augmentation, or breast lift (Mastopexy). A tummy tuck is excellent for providing a flatter and firmer midsection, especially for patients with loose abdominal skin or weakened muscles after weight loss or pregnancy.
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, also pairs perfectly with liposuction! Here, the fat removed during liposuction is purified and then used to augment areas like the buttocks, chin, under-eye hollows, or lips.
Now is the perfect time to meet with one of our esteemed plastic surgeons to map out your aesthetic treatment plan. Contact Banis, Prescott Plastic Surgery today to set up your initial consultation!

Deka DOT is a fractional CO2 laser device used to resurface areas of aged or damaged skin. Common skin concerns addressed with the Deka DOT laser include:
At Joseph Banis Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of non-surgical anti-aging therapies to treat a wide range of aesthetic concerns. Under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Joseph C. Banis, Jr. and Dr. Angela Prescott, our extremely knowledgeable staff will evaluate your areas of concern during your initial consultation. If you are a healthy candidate for Deka DOT, we will then go over the details of your personalized procedure so you know exactly what to expect.
As a CO2 laser, the Deka DOT is among the strongest laser treatments available. It uses a concentrated beam of light energy to penetrate through the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and into the dermis (the layers underneath). The heat generated by this process stimulates the body’s production of collagen, creating renewed, smoother, tighter, brighter skin tissue.
The other key word when it comes to the Deka DOT procedure is “fractional.” This means that, rather than removing the entire epidermis in the treatment area, we are creating microscopic columns in a honeycomb-like pattern. By leaving some dermal tissue intact between these columns, the body is able to heal itself much quicker.
The initial effects from a Deka DOT session are typically some temporary redness or swelling, but most patients feel comfortable returning to work after about a week. Full benefits often continue to develop over the following two to three months. You may need more than one appointment to experience your desired results.
At our Louisville med spa, we have two other types of laser devices: Moxi and Sciton BBL/Hero. However, these have different skincare applications.
If you have milder blemishes and don’t need the aggressiveness of Deka DOT therapy, we may recommend Moxi. The Moxi device is used to target earlier signs of aging and sun damage with minimal downtime. It’s frequently selected by patients who want to maintain their skin’s smoothness without undergoing more intensive treatments.
On the other hand, Sciton BBL/Hero involves the use of broadband light (BBL) that is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels and melanin pigment in the skin. The result is significant tone and texture improvements when it comes to hyperpigmentation, redness, and vascular lesions.
Deciding how to treat your skin concern(s) should always be done with a trained skincare expert. If you are located in the Louisville, Kentucky, area and would like more information about Deka DOT or any other cosmetic procedure, contact Joseph Banis Plastic Surgery today to set up your consultation!

MicroPeel treatments can help with various skin concerns, from fine lines and wrinkles to uneven skin tone. But not everyone knows how often they should get a MicroPeel.
The short answer is that it depends on your skin type and specific skincare goals.
For a more detailed answer, read on to find out, based on your skin type, how often you should get a MicroPeel to reap its benefits.
For those with normal to combination skin, we recommend getting a MicroPeel every four to six weeks. This schedule allows your skin to fully recover between treatments and get the best results without causing irritation. Regular treatments help maintain a smooth, even complexion and can prevent common issues such as minor breakouts and dullness.
Individuals with oily or acne-prone skin may benefit from more frequent MicroPeel treatments. You might need to schedule in a session every three to four weeks. This can help control excess oil production, clear up acne, and reduce the appearance of large pores. Consistent treatments can also help minimize acne scars and prevent future breakouts.
If you have dry or sensitive skin, we recommend that you space out your MicroPeel treatments to avoid over-exfoliation and irritation. We recommend scheduling sessions between six to eight weeks to give your skin time to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and promote cell turnover without compromising your skin’s natural barrier. Follow a moisturizing skincare routine to keep your skin hydrated between treatments.
For those concerned with signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, a MicroPeel can be effective every four to six weeks. Regular treatments stimulate collagen production, which helps in reducing the appearance of fine lines and improving skin elasticity. Over time, you’ll notice a smoother, firmer complexion.
MicroPeel treatments provide thorough exfoliation, which can reveal fresh, new skin. By removing dead skin cells, these treatments help your skin look brighter and more youthful. Plus, regular exfoliation can make your skincare products work better by allowing them to penetrate deeper.
MicroPeels can smooth out rough skin, making it feel softer and look more even. This is especially helpful if you have acne scars or other skin imperfections, as it promotes a more refined texture.
If you have sun spots or age spots, regular MicroPeel treatments can help. They promote cell turnover, which helps fade dark spots and evens out your skin tone over time.
By stimulating collagen production, MicroPeels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a more youthful look. More collagen also means better skin elasticity, making your skin firmer and more resilient.
Achieving and maintaining beautiful, healthy skin requires a tailored approach. Dr. Banis, Dr. Prescott, and the rest of our skin care clinic team will design personalized MicroPeel treatments based on your skin type and primary concerns. From acne, signs of aging, to simply enhancing your skin’s natural radiance, we’re here to help.
Contact us today to schedule a consultation at our skin care clinic and take the first step towards healthier, more beautiful skin.

Botox is an FDA-approved natural injectable that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles on the face. Providers also use this treatment to address certain medical conditions, including migraines, muscle spasms, joint pain, and incontinence.
This fast, non-surgical outpatient treatment has very little downtime; you can get Botox injections in a plastic surgery office and resume normal activity immediately after the procedure is complete.
It is derived from botulinum which can block nerve signals to help relax muscles and ease pain. It has been safely used by injectors for over thirty years.
Botox is a safe and non-invasive treatment that can provide many cosmetic and medical benefits. When used as an anti-aging treatment, Botox can prevent and reduce dynamic wrinkles by blocking the nerve signals involved in making facial expressions.
The treatment can help to improve the look of the 11’s (the Glabella region; between the eyebrows), forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Botox causes the muscles around the injection site to relax, which smooths out the skin.
Before your Botox treatment, you should speak to Dr. Banis Plastic Surgery about your past medical history, expectations, and desired results. When you arrive at the practice, they will clean your skin, review expectations, and the consent prior to prepping your skin.
During your procedure, they will use a very thin needle to inject tiny amounts of Botox into your treatment sites. The number of injections you receive will vary based on the condition of your skin and the position of your treatment areas. After each injection, they may apply pressure to the skin to prevent or reduce bruising and bleeding. The entire procedure takes approximately 30 minutes or less to complete.
After your Botox treatment, small red spots may be visible at each injection site, but they should disappear after a few hours. If you have any bruising, it should subside in a few days. It’s fine to take acetaminophen for pain.
We will advise you to stay upright for three to four hours and avoid touching or rubbing your face. It’s best to speak with us regarding standard and personalized aftercare instructions.
It takes up to ten days to see the skin-smoothing effects of your Botox treatment. The full effects will be visible after about two weeks and should last three to four months.
Botox is a versatile treatment that has several important medical uses, including:
Botox has proven to be a safe anti-aging treatment for wrinkles when it is administered by skilled practitioners, such as our Clinical Team. We will determine the amount of solution needed for treatment and properly place the injection sites to help you achieve the best results.
