Barcelona Manager in High Spirits 22 Apr 2023 2:10 AM (last year)

After guiding their team to a 0-1 victory over Real Madrid in midweek at the Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona is in good spirits. Aside from that, there is no reason to be concerned about the squad. It gave them an early advantage in the first of two Copa Del Rey semi-final matches, with the second match to take place a month later. They must, however, now concentrate on La Liga, where Valencia awaits them.

As the hosts, Barcelona can temporarily leapfrog Real Madrid to the top of the table by ten points. As is customary, Xavi addressed the media during his pre-game press conference to provide important information about the match, the team, and the locker room. About Valencia: We anticipate Valencia to have a strong defense. They have increased in aggressiveness and intensity, and we must win.

We hope to be more dominant and create more scoring opportunities, and we have yet another final. The victory over Valencia is crucial.” Before the match against Real Madrid, we want to be ahead by ten points. “On the criticism of their performance in Real Madrid: “Barcelona is always surrounded by noise. You must be able to control it internally.” I don’t know from the outside, but from inside, our analysis says that Real Madrid pushed us a lot, and we don’t know why.

We could not keep possession, but in big games, the opponent can sometimes win.” We see that they own 60, 70, or even 80 percent. But we were excellent without the ball. The most formidable team in the world is Barcelona. At the Bernabeu, you lose 0-1, and some people aren’t convinced. It will be a national holiday if it happens to another team. In Barcelona, you must win and hold 70% of the possession.

Xavi does not expect busy January window at Barcelona 29 Jan 2023 7:35 AM (2 years ago)

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez does not expect a huge deal of activity in the transfer market for the Catalan outfit. The squad has kept the manager completely satisfied according to the latest press conference. Barcelona spent a huge sum of money during the summer transfer window. Despite the financial difficulties at the club, it was surprising the money spent by the Catalan outfit in bringing players like Robert Lewandowski and Christensen to the club in the summer. Apart from bringing players on a free transfer, Barcelona were also able to financial muscle for signing players like Jules Kounde by being extravagant transfer fees.

As a result of the substantial strengthening that the club did in the summer transfer window,Xavi has been able to keep the club on the boil when it comes to the La Liga title race. The team has been top of the table with a slender advantage over Real Madrid on goal difference. It is in the defensive were Barcelona have been able to make a sizeable impression by just conceding six goals in the 15 league matches. However, the departure of players like Gerard Pique has led to a void at the back and the Catalan outfit may try to fill the same with a new signing in the January window. When questioned about the same,Xavi declined to comment further.

We are who we are and we are happy. This team are winners. They want to win and they show me in every training session. I am very happy with what I have. Yesterday we presented the documents and we are waiting for the resolution. He is on the squad list because we believe that we have done everything in terms of documentation so that he can play,” said the Barcelona manager about the January window.

Barcelona Eyes Two New Talents for Upcoming Year 20 Jan 2023 10:35 PM (2 years ago)

Barcelona eyes two Girona players in the upcoming transfer window. These are Arnau Martinez and Aleix Garcia. The latter is a midfielder, 25 years of age while Arnau is a defender whose skills are already popular, though he is only 19 years of age. Garcia is up for transfer since he has been playing for Girona since 2020 summer. Among his achievements are his performances for Manchester City. He was a central midfielder for them between the period of 2015 to 2020. Though he only made nine appearances for the senior side, he has been able to make an impression during this time.

He assisted a total of three times across 14 games, with Michel as his manager. On the other hand, Martinez was his teammate who came from the young players at Barcelona. This 19-year-old player is one of the finest among Spain’s right-backs. He would be a good solution for the right flank of the Barcelona team. In the current season Xavi Hernandez, manager of Barcelona, had to make do with Jules Kounde in that position where Jules is a center-back.

The team did sign on Hector Ballerin as a stop-gap solution. He was transferred from Real Betis with a one-year contract during the summer. Hector is a former full-back Arsenal player who played a total of 141 minutes for the team during this season. Martinez was able to do much with his defensive skills this year. It makes him enticing for Barcelona. However, Girona might show resistance to transferring out Martinez. Garcia on the other hand is in his final year as per his contract with Estadi Montilivi. Barcelona has a penchant for signing players from the free-agent market. Hence, it is likely that this midfielder is taken up by them for the next year.

JOURNALIST CONFIRMS INTENSIVE TALKS ON AUBAMEYANG 27 Oct 2022 10:32 PM (2 years ago)

Renowned English journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that intensive talks between Premier League side Chelsea and Barcelona continue for Gabonese star Pierre-EmerickAubameyang. The former Arsenal striker is the subject of a strong interest from Chelsea who are looking to bolster their attack before the end of the Premier League transfer window on Thursday. Ornstein gave an update on Aubameyang via his official Twitter account on Wednesday morning. The Athletic journalist also said a loan move to Chelsea is also a possibility for Aubameyang.

Aubameyang, 33, has spent just six months at Barcelona following his transfer to the club as a free agent in January after his contract with the Gunners was terminated. The African star scored 11 goals for Barcelona in all competitions during the second half of last season as he helped the Catalan giants recover from an average start to finish second on the final La Liga table.

Chelsea have been feeble in attack this season and they are keen to add Aubameyang to their ranks to boost it though things have been complicated by the robbery incident suffered by the player and his family at the weekend. Pierre-EmerickAubameyang and his family were robbed in Barcelona last weekend. It has been reported that the incident left Aubameyang with a broken jaw that will rule him out of action for almost the whole of next month. He will spend the next three weeks on the sidelines as a result of the injury.

Aubameyang was the first choice central striker at Barcelona when he arrived at the start of the year, but he has been relegated to second choice with the arrival of Polish star Robert Lewandowski from German champions Bayern Munich in a €50m deal. The arrival of Lewandowski has led to exit talks for Aubameyang with Chelsea in pole position for his signature. Manchester United also have been linked with the attacker.

BARCELONA PLOT SWAP DEAL TO SIGN THOMAS MEUNIER FROM DORTMUND 18 Oct 2022 8:43 AM (2 years ago)

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona might look to use a new ploy to sign Thomas Meunier from Borussia Dortmund in the ongoing transfer window. The Catalan giants are ready to offer out-of-favour 21-year-old defender Sergino Dest to the Bundesliga club to land the Belgian full-back.

Thomas Meunier has had his ups and downs throughout his long professional career, wherein he has represented Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. And while the 30-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice full-back for either club, he has still featured fairly regularly for the Bundesliga giants since arriving at the Signal Iduna Park from PSG two years ago.

The Belgian international has turned out 62 times for Borussia Dortmund while chipping in with three goals and seven assists. And Meunier’s performances at the Bundesliga club have captured the attention of several European bigwigs, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.

The interest from Barcelona came in the wake of their inability to secure the services of priority target Cesar Azpilicueta, with the Chelsea captain signing a new contract with the west London club. But with Dani Alves no longer at Camp Nou and Sergino Dest being surplus to requirements for Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona will need to invest in a new right-back.

Xavi has utilised Ronald Araujo as a right-back thus in the early stages of the 2022/23 season, with Jules Kounde another makeshift option for the role. But going an entire campaign without a recognised right-back will be foolhardy on Barcelona’s part, making Meunier a viable target. And Barcelona could use Dest to land the Borussia Dortmund full-back.

The Catalan giants hope to engineer a swap deal to prise Meunier away from the Bundesliga club. And landing the out-of-favour 21-year-old defender in the move will make it a like-for-like operation for Barcelona and Dortmund. Dest might not be in Xavi’s plans, but he has shown enough potential to excel in the Bundesliga if the Black and Yellows sign him.

BARCELONA HAVE REPORTEDLY MADE ENQUIRY ABOUT SIGNING VANDERSON 13 Sep 2022 10:20 PM (2 years ago)

According to SPORT, Barcelona have set their sights on a potential move for AS Monaco right-back Vanderson and have lodged an enquiry with the Ligue 1 outfit about a transfer this summer. Vanderson came through the ranks at Brazilian club Gremio and made close to 60 first-team appearances before signing for Monaco in January earlier this year. Since arriving in Europe, the 21-year-old has featured 26 times for the Principality club, bagging two goals and three assists.

Vanderson has stood out for his attacking intent from the full-back position, pace and strong physique. And his performances have prompted Deco, who operates as a scout for Barcelona, to point the club in the direction of the 21-year-old, as they look for reinforcements in the right-back slot. Barcelona have failed to address their right-back problems since Dani Alves’ first exit from the club in 2016. Nelson Semedo proved to be a disappointing acquisition, while Sergi Roberto has not delivered on expectations either. The Catalans brought in Sergino Dest in 2020, but he too has not been convincing so far, so much so that they re-signed Alves last November.

However, Alves has moved on after his contract expired this summer, whereas Dest is likely to be sold as Xavi does not trust the USMNT ace. Hence, Barcelona are looking at options to bolster the right-back unit, with Vanderson emerging as one among several targets on their radars.

According to the report, Barcelona director Mateu Alemany has contacted Monaco to assess the possibility of a transfer this summer. Vanderson has a contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2027, which puts them in a strong negotiating position over any possible deal. Whether Barcelona press ahead with their interest in the 21-year-old Brazilian or look at other operations will be intriguing to see.
