You must be able to control it internally.” I don’t know from the outside, but from inside, our analysis says that Real Madrid pushed us a lot, and we don’t know why.
We could not keep possession, but in big games, the opponent can sometimes win.” We see that they own 60, 70, or even 80 percent. But we were excellent without the ball. The most formidable team in the world is Barcelona. At the Bernabeu, you lose 0-1, and some people aren’t convinced. It will be a national holiday if it happens to another team. In Barcelona, you must win and hold 70% of the possession.

Barcelona eyes two Girona players in the upcoming transfer window. These are Arnau Martinez and Aleix Garcia. The latter is a midfielder, 25 years of age while Arnau is a defender whose skills are already popular, though he is only 19 years of age. Garcia is up for transfer since he has been playing for Girona since 2020 summer. Among his achievements are his performances for Manchester City. He was a central midfielder for them between the period of 2015 to 2020. Though he only made nine appearances for the senior side, he has been able to make an impression during this time.
The team did sign on Hector Ballerin as a stop-gap solution. He was transferred from Real Betis with a one-year contract during the summer. Hector is a former full-back Arsenal player who played a total of 141 minutes for the team during this season. Martinez was able to do much with his defensive skills this year. It makes him enticing for Barcelona. However, Girona might show resistance to transferring out Martinez. Garcia on the other hand is in his final year as per his contract with Estadi Montilivi. Renowned English journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that intensive talks between Premier League side Chelsea and Barcelona continue for Gabonese star Pierre-EmerickAubameyang. The former Arsenal striker is the subject of a strong interest from Chelsea who are looking to bolster their attack before the end of the Premier League transfer window on Thursday. Ornstein gave an update on Aubameyang via his official Twitter account on Wednesday morning. The Athletic journalist also said a loan move to Chelsea is also a possibility for Aubameyang.
Chelsea have been feeble in attack this season and they are keen to add Aubameyang to their ranks to boost it though things have been complicated by the robbery incident suffered by the player and his family at the weekend. Pierre-EmerickAubameyang and his family were robbed in Barcelona last weekend. It has been reported that the incident left Aubameyang with a broken jaw that will rule him out of action for almost the whole of next month. He will spend the next three weeks on the sidelines as a result of the injury.
Aubameyang was the first choice central striker at Barcelona when he arrived at the start of the year, but he has been relegated to second choice with the arrival of Polish star Robert Lewandowski from German champions Bayern Munich in a €50m deal. The arrival of Lewandowski has led to exit talks for Aubameyang with Chelsea in pole position for his signature. Manchester United also have been linked with the attacker.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona might look to use a new ploy to sign Thomas Meunier from Borussia Dortmund in the ongoing transfer window. The Catalan giants are ready to offer out-of-favour 21-year-old defender Sergino Dest to the Bundesliga club to land the Belgian full-back.
The Belgian international has turned out 62 times for Borussia Dortmund while chipping in with three goals and seven assists. And Meunier’s performances at the Bundesliga club have captured the attention of several European bigwigs, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.
The interest from Barcelona came in the wake of their inability to secure the services of priority target Cesar Azpilicueta, with the Chelsea captain signing a new contract with the west London club. But with Dani Alves no longer at Camp Nou and Sergino Dest being surplus to requirements for Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona will need to invest in a new right-back.
Xavi has utilised Ronald Araujo as a right-back thus in the early stages of the 2022/23 season, with Jules Kounde another makeshift option for the role. But going an entire campaign without a recognised right-back will be foolhardy on Barcelona’s part, making Meunier a viable target. And Barcelona could use Dest to land the Borussia Dortmund full-back.
The Catalan giants hope to engineer a swap deal to prise Meunier away from the Bundesliga club. And landing the out-of-favour 21-year-old defender in the move will make it a like-for-like operation for Barcelona and Dortmund. Dest might not be in Xavi’s plans, but he has shown enough potential to excel in the Bundesliga if the Black and Yellows sign him.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have set their sights on a potential move for AS Monaco right-back Vanderson and have lodged an enquiry with the Ligue 1 outfit about a transfer this summer. Vanderson came through the ranks at Brazilian club Gremio and made close to 60 first-team appearances before signing for Monaco in January earlier this year. Since arriving in Europe, the 21-year-old has featured 26 times for the Principality club, bagging two goals and three assists.
However, Alves has moved on after his contract expired this summer, whereas Dest is likely to be sold as Xavi does not trust the USMNT ace. Hence, Barcelona are looking at options to bolster the right-back unit, with Vanderson emerging as one among several targets on their radars.
According to the report, Barcelona director Mateu Alemany has contacted Monaco to assess the possibility of a transfer this summer. Vanderson has a contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2027, which puts them in a strong negotiating position over any possible deal. Whether Barcelona press ahead with their interest in the 21-year-old Brazilian or look at other operations will be intriguing to see.
