Toyota Announces 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition, GR86 Yuzu Edition, and GR Corolla Prototype 3 Apr 5:00 PM (yesterday, 5:00 pm)

2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition

The reborn fifth-generation Toyota Supra made its debut in 2019 after a 17-year hiatus from the market as a performance GT co-developed with BMW. Today, Toyota announces the end of the line for the fifth generation Supra in the form of the 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition, which will make its debut at the Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition will be available in both 3.0 and 3.0 Premium grades, both of which will share the same turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine producing 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. Automatic versions will be capable of running 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, while manual versions will do the same run in a slightly longer 4.2 seconds.

Performance upgrades are plentiful, with all 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition models getting refined differential control and exclusive control maps intended to improve traction and reduce understeer through turns. Buyers will also find larger Brembo brake discs for improved stopping power.

Suspension and chassis upgrades also make their way into the 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition, intended to enhance stability and driving feel. A revised camber angle increases cornering grip. Electronically controlled shock absorbers also undergo revision with stronger front stabilizers. Strengthened rubber bushings for the front control arms and strengthened rubber mounts for the rear sub-frame achieve a “heightened sensation of suspension and body integration.”

Aerodynamic modifications by way of a ducktail carbon fiber rear spoiler, higher front tire spats, and front wheel arch flaps further enhance handling prowess by optimizing front/rear balance and downforce.

Aesthetic upgrades include new 19-inch matte black wheels and mirror caps finished in glossy carbon fiber.

Inside, 3.0 trims will come with black soft-touch Alcantara, and leather-trimmed sports seats feature power adjustments. Those upgrading to the 3.0 Premium grade will be able to choose between black or hazelnut leather-trimmed seats. Both come trims come standard with heated seats.

A GT4 style pack option, inspired by the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 race car, gives buyers access to two exclusive matte paint options, including Burnout and Undercover. Additionally, the exterior will receive GT4-inspired side graphics, a matte-finished carbon fiber ducktail spoiler, red mirror caps, and a matte-black rear Supra emblem.

The 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition will be available in four paint colors, including Stratosphere, Absolute Zero, Nocturnal, and Renaissance Red 2.0.

2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition

Toyota also announced the 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition, a nod to a special edition of the GR86’s predecessor, the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0. This trim will sit at the top of the GR86 lineup in addition to the base GR86 and mid-level GR86 Premium.

The 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition will be based on the standard GR86 Premium grade and feature special 18-inch matte black wheels and other black accents scattered throughout the vehicle.

Inside, buyers will find a black interior with yellow accents, including back Ultrasuede-trimmed sports seats with yellow perforation, as well as yellow stitching on the steering wheel, parking brake handle, and door trim.

Upgraded Brembo brakes give the 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition improved stopping power, while SACHS Dampers provide increased stability for even better handling prowess. Both of these upgrades will also be available in lower trims when buyers select the Performance Package.

Being more about handling than outright performance numbers, all 2026 GR86 models, including the 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition, will continue to be powered by a 2.4 lt 4-cylinder Boxer engine generating 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Buyers will also receive a complimentary 1-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association.

The 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition will arrive at US dealerships this fall, with only 860 Yuzu editions being assembled for the US market.

GR Corolla Prototype

Finally, Toyota unveiled a camouflaged prototype of an upcoming GR Corolla, currently being fine-tuned by the brand’s GAZOO Racing team.

The shared photos show aggressive new fender and hood vents, as well as a large rear spoiler. Toyota says the GR Corolla will feature track-focused enhancements, including improved aerodynamic performance, unique tuning, and an increase in torque.

Performance numbers and additional information will be announced in the fall.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6, Nexo, and Genesis Concepts Debut 3 Apr 10:40 AM (2 days ago)

Hyundai made a splash at the Seoul Mobility Show with multiple new models and concept vehicles.

Updated 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai debuted a heavily facelifted version of their Ioniq 6 electric sedan.

The biggest design changes take shape at the front of the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6, where the previous version’s wide-eyed headlights have been replaced with new slimmer units featuring distinctive LED DRLs, giving it a much sleeker look.

While its overall bow-shaped profile remains, the rear of the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 receives some attention, with new, more angular bumpers and updated taillights. New wheel designs round out the list of exterior changes.

An all-new N Line trim also makes its debut with this update, bringing more aggressive design details to both the interior and exterior of the Ioniq 6. However, there is no mention of any actual performance enhancements.

For those wanting an even hotter version of the Ioniq 6, Hyundai also teased a true N version of the Ioniq 6, with its rear peaking out from behind two other, more pedestrian Ioniq 6s in one of the press photos. Not much can be seen from this limited preview, but we can make out a much more aggressive-than-standard bumper, a huge rear spoiler, and the brand’s iconic Robin’s egg blue color. We’d imagine this new N version will bring some significant performance upgrades as well, though we’ll have to wait for a later date to learn about them.

Inside, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 receives updated climate controls, improved materials, and a few other design tweaks to keep it fresh and competitive. The two-spoke steering wheel has also been replaced with a more conventional three-spoke design as well.

Range, performance, pricing, and US availability information for the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be released closer to its on-sale date.

Next-Generation 2026 Hyundai Nexo

Hyundai also revealed the production version of the next-generation hydrogen-powered 2026 Hyundai Nexo crossover.

First previewed by the INITIUM concept, shown at the LA Auto Show last year, the all-new Hyundai Nexo stays true to that concept’s design with a funky, boxier, retro-futurist look featuring pixel-inspired details scattered throughout.

The rear of the 2026 Hyundai Nexo is arguably its most unique angle, featuring a design reminiscent of the Pontiac Aztek in a good way with a wild-looking greenhouse and wedge-shaped rear taillights.

The interior of the 2026 Hyundai Nexo is a bit more tame than the exterior and very much aligns with that of other current Hyundai models, especially its EV options. Physical climate controls can be found below a dual-screen digital display arrangement and, in some markets, digital displays in place of exterior rearview mirrors. A unique, padded-look dash gives the Nexo its own bit of interior personality as well.

Beyond its unique design, the 2026 Hyundai Nexo packs an equally unique powertrain in the form of Hyundai’s next-gen hydrogen powertrain. Featuring a trio of 6.7 kg hydrogen tanks, a 2.6 kWh battery, and an electric motor producing 201 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The new Nexo will run 0-06 in 7.8 seconds, an improvement of half a second over the previous generation, and will feature a range of more than 435 miles.

US market availability for the 2026 Hyundai Nexo is a bit murky. The number of hydrogen fueling stations in the US actually diminished this past year, so it may be a bit of a wait before it makes its way to US shores.

Genesis X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible Concepts

Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, has made beautiful, two-door concept cars somewhat of a habit in recent years, and this year, it ups the ante with the Genesis X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible Concepts.

Both concepts are based on the brand’s G90 flagship luxury sedan, and beyond the reduction of door count from the standard G90 sedan, both the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible feature lowered roofs, more steeply raked windshields, widened fenders, and unique eye-catching wheel designs.

The overall impression of these stunning concepts is very similar to that of the previous generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.

[See image gallery at www.thetorquereport.com]

Both concepts feature modified versions of the production G90 sedan’s interior as well. The coupe’s interior features a striking combination of green and brown leathers inspired by Mediterranean olive trees. In contrast, the convertible’s interior is color-drenched in a deep, vibrant blue inspired by the grapes used to make Cabernet Sauvignon. Genesis certainly knows their audience.

For now, both of these vehicles are concepts, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see at least one of them reach production as a halo car as Genesis seeks to further cement its reputation as a leading luxury brand.

2026 Nissan Leaf revealed in future model preview 26 Mar 9:15 AM (10 days ago)

Nissan has revealed the upcoming 2026 Nissan Leaf, the third generation of the brand’s first-ever EV, along with a preview of a slew of other upcoming Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

The Nissan Leaf was first released in the US for the 2011 model year as a small, economical hatchback that just happened to be electric. The second generation Leaf debuted for the 2017 model year and was essentially a heavy update to the original car, right down to its size and shape (although with dramatically improved range).

The upcoming 2026 Nissan Leaf breaks with that tradition, morphing into a compact crossover with Ariya-inspired styling. Nissan only released two photos of the next-generation Leaf showing the front of the vehicle in a light robin’s egg blue.

The new Leaf’s styling direction was previewed in the 2021 Chill-Out concept, with the production model featuring the same segmented daytime running light design up front and smooth, minimal detailing. If the rear of the production Leaf follows the styling of the Chill-Out concept, you can expect a Nissan Z-inspired rear light treatment featuring vaguely retro LED light patterns. Nissan confirmed 19-inch wheels in a unique geometric pattern and a panoramic moonroof will also be available on the new Leaf.

The new Leaf will be built on the same CMF-EV platform as its larger sibling, the Ariya, and will arrive with the NACS charge port installed native from the factory, a first for a Nissan product, allowing it access Tesla’s Supercharger stations without the need for an adaptor. Nissan did not release full specs or any interior photos of the 2026 Nissan Leaf with those details to be revealed toward the middle of 2025 before it makes its US market debut.

In addition to the upcoming 2026 Nissan Leaf, the US and Canada can expect to get 10 new and refreshed vehicles in the near future, including next-gen EVs, hybrids, and numerous Infiniti models.

Buyers will be able to get their hands on new versions of the Sentra, a PHEV version of the Rogue, and an updated Pathfinder by the end of 2025. 2026 will bring an all-new fourth-generation Rogue in EV, PHEV, and ICE variants, with 2027 bringing a new adventure-focused EV to be built at the brand’s Canton, Mississippi plant. This new model could very well be a reincarnated Xterra, though Nissan did not go so far as to confirm that.

Infiniti plans to introduce a refreshed QX60 in 2025. An all-new, FX-inspired QX65 crossover coupe will arrive in 2026 while another luxury EV SUV inspired by the Vision QXe concept will make its debut in 2028.

Though the future of Nissan as a company is anything but certain, it’s nice to see the full spread of what the company plans to offer across the coming years to hopefully strengthen its position and lead it to a more stable future.

Porsche has announced that it is updating the infotainment system in the 2026 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne models. The updated Porsche Communication Management (PCM) will now be more responsive, but the big news is the addition of Dolby Atmos and Amazon Alexa.

Porsche is also upgrading its Bose and Burmester audio systems with the addition of Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Atmos system is an immersive sound technology, which creates a spatial sound experience for the occupants, but the prerequisite is that you need to use an audio source that supports Dolby Atmos. Porsche says that corresponding apps will be available in the App Center.

Lastly, the 2026 Porsche 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne models are getting the Porsche Connect, which lets you control some of the vehicle’s features via your phone, for 10 years.

2025 Acura ADX Review: A Stylish and Luxurious Entry-Level SUV 17 Mar 9:40 AM (19 days ago)

It seems like we’ve been waiting for years for Acura to add a subcompact SUV to its lineup and now it’s finally here – the 2025 Acura ADX. The ADX shares some of its DNA with the Honda HR-V, but it stands out with its sportier styling, more powerful engine and luxurious interior.

2025 Acura ADX Review

Acura has needed an entry-level SUV to compete with other models, like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Lexus UX and Mercedes-Benz GLA. This is one of the fastest growing segments and the easiest way for Acura to bring younger buyers into its showrooms.

Some may question if the ADX is truly a luxury SUV, since it is based on the same platform as the HR-V, but Acura has done a lot to differentiate it from its Honda cousin. On the outside, the ADX has a stylish exterior with styling cues that are reminiscent of the other Acura SUVs, the RDX, MDX and ZDX. It’s also not far off from the Integra.

[See image gallery at www.thetorquereport.com]

Acura didn’t just give the ADX a bolder exterior than the HR-V, but it also upgraded its engine. The HR-V is slow with its 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder, so to make things more exciting the ADX gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. That engine might sound familiar to you, since it is a detuned version of the Integra’s engine.

The ADX sends its power to the front or all four wheels via a continuously variable transmission, with simulated shifts to provide a sportier driving experience. The ADX is available with all-wheel drive, but it is not the same Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system that you get with Acura’s other SUVs.

2025 Acura ADX Review

Acura also upgraded the steering and suspension to make the ADX more fun to drive. It also has a quieter interior thanks to additional sound deadening, sound-absorbing engine mounts and an active noise cancellation system from the audio system.

Acura states that the front-wheel drive ADX will be rated at 26 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 28 mpg combined, while the all-wheel drive version is rated at 25/30/27 mpg.

2025 Acura ADX Review

Inside the ADX has a spacious and more luxury oriented interior. There’s plenty of legroom in either row and Acura has also included an available 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, which sounds great. The audio system also features a thing called a “Beosonic Tone” tuner that lets you easily adjust the sound system with four sections: Bright, Energetic, Warm and Relaxed, by simply moving your finger around on the touchscreen.

Acura has elevated the ADX’s interior with features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, an eight-way adjustable drive’s seat, rear air vents, a sunroof and upgraded materials.

2025 Acura ADX Review

On the road the ADX offers an engaging driving experience, but it isn’t quite as sporty as the X1. The steering has a nice weight to it and the suspension easily swallows any imperfections on the road, without having too much body roll when the road gets a bit twisty.

We welcome the turbocharged four-cylinder, which has more pep than the HR-V, but you can easily squeeze out every last hp and still need more power. Pushing the pedal to the floor when accelerating on a highway, the ADX shows that it needs more power. It would be great if Acura released a sportier ADX Type S, but there’s no word on that happening.

Where the ADX really stands out is its price tag. The pricing for the ADX starts at $36,350, while the top trim A-Spec with Advance Package and all-wheel drive is priced at $45,350. That pricing makes it a better value than its X1 and GLA, which have a higher price tag.

At the end of the day, Acura has achieved what its goal of adding an engaging entry-level SUV to its lineup, which will easily help it reach appeal to a younger audience. The ADX is a near perfect SUV for a younger buyer that wants a more luxurious experience, but without hurting the bank too much.
